My 2005 650 Brute Force Is Running Hot The Fan Is On 75 Percent Of The Time

Is That Normal?

My Hot Light Was Flashing The Other Day

When It Is Flashing Does That Mean "shut Down Now"

Or Does It Come On Solid When Its Time To Shut Down The Motor?

Thanks For Your Help

It is the hot time of the year, but that thing shoudl be able to stay at operating temparature and not have teh fan come on 75% of the time.

That's a Four-stroke, V-twin, liquid-cooled, SOHC, four-valve? I woudl check the coolant condition and level. also the oil level. Oil and coolant are what keep that thing running cool. Maybe it's time for a coolant flush?

Also,,,You may want to Take the Radiator off and spray water through the fins until the water is clear on the other side.....Plugged Fins will make it run hot too......After that,,,,Make sure that the Fins are Straight.....Reinstall it,,,,add Coolant and Fire it up....Keep the Cap Popped and make sure you have circulation in the Radiator....If you dont.....You may have a Bad Impeller on your Pump...

Disclaimer......Im going off my Knowledge of my 23 yr old 2 Stroke....Technology might have changed....

I Will Be Cleaning The Radiator Every Time I Ride In Mud Or Lots Of Dust

I'm trying to help a buddy out with his bike (he's not really on the internet or familiar with these forums) and I'll admit that I am not super familiar with the transmission and clutches in these bikes. I owned a Brute a few years ago, but never had an issue like this that I had to troubleshoot.
So basically my buddy bought a group lot of 650's to build one good bike out of. He got it all put together and has it running but when he pushes on the throttle the clutch doesn't engage till the RPM's are quite high and even when its moving it doesn't really speed up, almost seems like its in "limp mode". He's tried 2 different transmissions so I don't think that's the problem.
Is there any adjustment on the clutch engagement? Anything else I can tell him to look at? Let me know if you need anymore information if you think you can help.

I like to ride in wooded and grassy areas. It takes my mind off the everyday routines and helps me deal with my father's cancer. Also gives me a reason to get involved with forums like this one.
