Bayou 220 axle

I think I have a bad axle as only on wheel drives. I'll be taking it apart soon and was wondering if it usually goes bad at the hub or differential end?

If it has universal or cv joints then you will be able to see what bits turn and which don't.

If it's a solid axle (which I think it will be) then it's probably the hub the wheel attaches to that's stripped.

I generally like to jack the wheels up, with both wheels off the ground so i can turn them by hand and see whats turning and not turning.

If you go to babbits parts they have exploded diagrams of all the parts.

Yeah the parts diagrams are often easier to understand than the photos in service manuals.. though some service manuals do have exploded view diagrams too.

They are very helpful especially if you are suspicious there may be missing parts.

Tore it apart this weekend and it was the hub.
