Thank GOD I got an '08 - the '09s look like a LTR525XC - if you know what I mean. Is it just me, or does the front look really dumb - almost like my kid's Powerwheels?

I say give me the bad-as* old look, with the bigger tank - I'll loose the 6+ pounds myself.

You won't be in front of anyone for long with a tank that's a gallon smaller on the exact same bike. It's called an Outlaw and is supposed to look/be bad-as*, not be a look-a-like/copycat/every-other-quad type of thing.

Also, I got the dealer-new '08 with a 42mo warranty out the door (tax/title/set-up/license) for $6,500 and you'll be paying $8K+ for basicly the same quad; even spending part of the money on performance upgrades would smoke the '09 in a second.

but in most races you wont hae to use the whole tank of gas...

The racing I do and have done you have pit stops. MSRP is 7600. You think I will pay that, you're crazy. Just because YOU don't like the looks doesn't mean everyone does. I personally think the 08 and older models are dumb looking.(the front) The new look is what I like about it. And the fact that it comes with Fox shocks. I'm sorry you don't like it, your opinion will be the LAST thing to sway me from buying one.

You guys - the '08 has the same FOX shocks, and it has the same 5252 KTM racing motor, and it has the same Maxxis tires. Other than the plastics/tank, the steering stem is the only real change. Please like what you like - but doesn't it still make sense to get the same bike right now for way less, use the extra cash for hop-ups and have a real ripper of a machine; especially for racing?

I understand what you're saying, the old look just isn't for me. I won't be getting anything new until next season. So then the 2010 machines will be out. I will get the same deal on an 09 leftover that I could get on the 08 now. KTM is what I really want, but the 08's are practically impossible to get, sold out everywhere near me. The 09 KTM cost about 12 grand.

Speaking of KTM's, I think this is the coolest looking machine I have ever seen.

I hear you there - I know in CA with the new '09 KTM MX (450/477[aka505] DOHC)/$12K coming out in addition to the '09 450/525/$9K KTM XC (same motor as the Outlaw), all the guys who bought the '08 KTM XC are about to trade up and you could probably snag a good deal on a '08 XC unless you're dead-set on new.

Just look at the specs, the 08 comes with a pipe that is comparable to any of the best after market. Same with the intake, suspension, wheels/tires. It is race ready. The 09 they made it dual over head cams instead of the sohc like the 08 which made it even faster. Not only does it still come with the best everything they even put bead locks. All you would really need fro racing is nerf bars.

I really want new, but if I found the right used I would buy. I just like to know what it has been through. I know people that wash their machines once a week, change the oil after every ride. I would not buy from them because of how they ride. Big jumps landing on flat ground. Bouncing off rocks, stuff that leads to cracked frames.

Hello all, I have a 2006 Polaris Sawtooth with no spark. It has a dead battery but with a jump pack on it, it will still not Spark. Plug is good, Throttle ETC is not closed, Stator pick up coil seems to Ohm out in the correct range, Unsure how to properly check the CDI. And when ignition is on the Neutral and reverse light come on but after cranking just the neutral stays on.

      Any help would be great,

      Thanks!

Hi everyone and thanks for reading.
My husband and me are getting ready to host the 2nd Quad Runners event at our nudist campground. The first one (last year) went pretty well with about 20 quads attending and have to say, it was a smaller group, but they made up for their size with the large interest in partying and there was plenty of nudity as the Saturday night went on.
We have decided to host another one this summer, but we are looking for some fun (but safe) riding events. Our grounds are almost all flat and remember we are a nudist campground so many of us are bare as* naked so "slow ride" events would be the best.
Give us your thoughts and ideas and feel free to ask us anything you would like, and we will answer right here in the thread.
Thanks for your help and ride safe.
BTW, let us know what "anything goes" means for this thread section.

      Hi all,

I am wondering if any of you have a Clutch Starter gear from a 1988 era quadrunner 250 sitting around that you could get me a precise measurement of the outer diameter of the race the sprag engages onto, for me? I need to machine a damaged race down and install a hardened sleeve and need that measurement (it's on a different gear than the OEM one, so I can't buy and use a OEM gear).

Hi guys, I was given a 2000 Honda Recon fourtrax 250 (I think that's the full name lol). The previous owner had it sitting for a while before I got it. It sat for another few years in my ownership. I got it up and going on its first test drive today!! I was wondering where everyone buys their parts from?  Coming from the car community, we have sites like RockAuto and many more. Anything like that for quads? Also would like to be pointed in a direction, if possible, for plastics. I am missing a few and would like to have it complete. I appreciate any input!
