Called the shop, turns out they haven't looked at it yet : ( Probably won't get my baby back till school starts which is even worse! I'm sure everyone has gone threw this before.

when i had my 2fiddy, we took it in to get its axle replaced, since i snapped it. i also had to have bearings, hubs, and seals as well.

well we took it in on a monday. they guaranteed me that it would be out by thursday. thursday rolled around and they didnt even look at it yet. so my dad said "either look at it now and have it done by saturday or im takin my business else where."

so they had it done by saturday. so i went out ridin that sunday. after about 2 hours of ridin, i looked at my new axle and i found my seals had came loose. thats not good because if we had gotten grit and mud in the drive shaft lube the whole rear end would lock up. welllllllll it turns out they only replace hubs, and axle. and nothing else. and they even charged us for the

1) AXLE

2)HUBS

3)BEARINGS

4)SEALS

soo we went took it back in that monday. and my dad said "if they is anything harmed on this quad, then you can bet your sweet as* that we'll sue the hell outta you"

so by the grace of God, it turns out there was nothing wrong. they replaced the seals and bearings free(which shouldve been done in the first place!!) and i had it out by that friday.

SOOOOOOOOO it took them almost 2 weeks. needless to say we are never doing business with them again

Just tell them how unsatisfied you are and their error screwed up your plans. If it's not ready by (a day pick out by you) you are taking your business else where. Let them know that you know tons of people who ride and you are going to tell everyone you know not to use them. Just make threats that will hurt their reputation.

for real, that stinks and I'm so sorry...

I'm sure there are people in your position that are super mad at my mechanic cause he's backed up...buttt if you've read any of my racing threads then you know i've blown it up back to back the past two weekends nad he's dropped everythign to work on it and get me back on the track...

I guess that's the good and bad about mechanics....my advice would be to find a trust worthy mechanic that you really like....be respectful and get to know him, we've done business with our mechanic since 2004....it helps building that kind of relationship, especially when you get in a bind like I'm currently in wiht mine.....and also, when you have a good relationship like that and end up dropping 1500 bucks at their shop in 2 weeks...they let you pay over the course of like a month or two, which really helps...

I hope you can find someone like this!!! I've learned that all ATV/Bike mechanics are super busy and over worked. They'll treat you really well if you respect that about them...but I do agree that they shouldn't lie about things being done by a certain date/time and them not even starting the work....that's definitely a good way to lose business....

If you dont want to worry about your bike at the shop a good and quick solution would be just fix it yourself , i have found that out, i started doin everything my self so i know it gets done right not having to worry if they put new parts on or not

For me, I took my quad to Cal Coast Motorsports. For "Break-in Maintenance".....a 3 hour job.

I took it in on saturday, mind you, these guys are open 7 days a week and a minimum of 6 hours a day....It wasn't touched till Monday, and I didn't get it back till Mid Tuesday.

I'm highly debating wether I should take my business somewhere else, but sadly the next closest shop is where I bought my quad from and it's a 2 hour, and a quarter tank, round trip. :(

Just make an appointment. If they tell you to bring it on Tuesday, you then ask them will it be seen on Tues? They will tell you yes and then you tell them that you have some trip planned and you HAVE to have it back buy Thurs. Give them at least 2 days of working on it. They will usually say no problem we can have it done by then. Make them write it on the work order. Don't be afraid to raise hell. If you start giving hell about unhappy you are in the middle of their store in front of other customers, they will do what it takes to shut you up. Do you think they want possible new customers hearing how crappy they are? Go straight to the manager.

I was looking to buy a new ATV.
I was debating between Polaris sportsman 450 and Honda rancher.
      Polaris it a bit cheaper.
But can you tell me which one will have more demand on the used market? Which one will keep it's value better?

I picked up this ATV that had no spark. The previous owner said he was driving it and it died and would not start. He discovered it had no spark. He replaced the CDI and the coil with no luck. He got tired of it and I bought it. I replaced the stater and now it has strong spark. Now, it starts for a second or two then dies. It will not stay running. I have checked the timing and it is spot on. The valves are adjusted correctly. I see no warn issues with the cam. I put the original CDI and coil back on it. Same problem exists. Compression is at 65 psi (has decompression mechanism),
I took off the muffler in case the issue was clogged pipes. No change. I replaced the spark plug. No change. The carb was an aftermarket so I put a Niche carb on with no change. I bypassed the fuel pump and that did nothing to solve the problem.
I don't know if this is a carb issue or an ignition issue. I am looking around locally for an OEM carb to try out but not sure that will fix the problem.
Can anyone help me solve this problem. I am running out of ideas.
      Thank you for your time
      Bill

      Hi to all
Newbie here. Not new to ATVs. Look forward to learning a few new things and hope to maybe help some too.

HI everyone. New to this forum. I have 98 Kawasaki Bayou 400 with an apparent electrical issue. I have the Clymer manual, but I am not exactly sure where to start. The issue started a month ago and the neutral light would go on and off intermittently. Eventually it went completely off , and I thought it was a shifting issue. I took the case off and checked the clutch and all mechanical shifting components are good, so I think I eliminated that. The switch sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. Last time I tried, I did hear a clicking sound near where the battery is right before the light went out. Does anyone have any ideas where to start? Hoping this is an easy fix.

Hi. I just joined the community. I have a sheep farm and use a Polaris 500HO, Polaris 700efi and a JD Gator 825i for different jobs around the farm. I do all the repairs myself so I am sometimes needing some advice and maybe I can be of some help to others as well.
