07 sportsman wont run without pumping throttle

After a rollover and breaking out the Speedo Gauge my machine starts and will not stay running nor will it idle. Speedo is removed as it is non repairable. I can pump the throttle as it is running and that is the only way it will stay running but will not rev up. I can spray gas into air cleaner intake when air cleaner is out and it will rev up. I pulled the injector out and made sure there was gas getting to fuel rail when pump comes on and there is. One person told me you need the Speedo on for it to run fine but I took one off my 800EFI and it still does same thing and the 800 runs fine without the speedo on it. Any advice??? You can not ride machine like this. Like machine isn't getting proper amount of fuel through the injector. I highly doubt injector is bad being only 300 miles in change on the machine. Please don't tell me adjust throttle cable. Any Legit idea's??

I tried another guage off 08 800 EFI and does the same thing. The 800 runs fine without guage. I have the whole pod off right now. Looked at wires and nothing is wrong.
Is the throtle cable still hooked up to the throttle positioning sensor?????? That is Throttle body setup, not to hard to knock something out wack. Sounds like the throttle position sensor is bad. That would be the next thing I would check.

Throttle position sensor.Would be my first guess, same set up as a car. I got on Ronnies mail order site and looked at the the diagrams of your EFI. Again my first guess would be throttle position sensor.

I agree, it sounds like a possible reason, just like on a car. I'm not familiar with the setup on that atv, but I would check that and whatever else there may be that is electrical and controls fuel flow. See if there is a fuel pump relay or injector relay, pressure regulator, etc.

Is yours also an 800? Or is it a 450, 500, or 700...

Sounds like it could be the TPS sensor but as you get higher in CC's you may have some other possible stuff going on.

Do you have the operational instructions on performing that test task? If so that would be great. I've never had to test one before so I'm not familiar with it. Sounds like you know what your doing.

I'm not sure what that model has, but usually there is a positive wire for power, and another wire sending the voltage back to adjust air fuel mixture, based on throttle position. Check the signal wire voltage for fluctuation while you move the throttle. This should give you an idea if it's working. If it's not and is shorted, it may be signaling for closed throttle.

That has an electric fuel pump. You may want to check fuel pressure or see if the pump is delivering fuel and not just making noise.

2022 Sector 550, 414 miles on it and the gas gauge reads empty.  I topped off the gas and it didn't change.
There is no fuse that I could find.  No access at the gauge cluster.
Wiring on the top of the tank looks good, properly connected.
Could the sending unit in the tank be stuck or broken?
Has anybody removed the tank lid?  Any tricks?
      Any other ideas?
      Thanks for any help,
      Clyde

Hi everyone, I received a 98 Yamaha Timberwolf from my brother for free, and I'm working on getting it going.
I am having the following problem:
The engine is backfiring through the carb.
I have done the following to try and get the four wheeler running:
Rebuilt the carb and set the air screw to 1-1/4 turn out and the circlip at middle position 3
Replaced the coil, because the cable was loose at the coil end
Repaired the main ground, coming from the battery
Replaced the ignition switch, because my brother couldn't find the key. New switch tested good
Tested the kill switch and it tested good
New coil tested goodfor both primary and secondary coils
Pickup coil resistance is at 195, which is correct
My source coil, is where I believe the issue is. The resistance is 310ohms, and it should be between 428-523ohms
When I opened the stator housing, there was significant oil, which I have read is normal. Does it sound like I'm on the right track replacing the source coil? Could this be causing my backfiring issue? It looks like the source coil is part of the stator assembly, is this correct? 4BD-85510-20-00 STATOR ASSY

My 2008 can-am Outlander 800r is having hard shifting issues. Does anyone have a fix for this ?

      Hi everyone,
Outlander 2006 400 XT i have replace the startor cover and right after i did that the oil light is on and not turn off, i check the wires and checked the oil level, everything seem to be normal quad is starting without any problem and rev just fine. i did not want to ride it since im not sure if it is faulty sensor or not so just be safe i did not let it run more the a minute or so.
I have read in the owner manual that i need to clean the oil strainer every 200hr unfortunately i never did that, my service manual that i have does not even indicate of such a thing. so i did some search around and it seem like canam split the manual into 3 parts
      owner manual
      service manual
      engine manual
I have the first 2 but i can not find the last one, part number 219100232. If someone can guide me where do i find the oil strainer so i can clean it i will appreciate it.   im going to do an oil pressure test tomorrow to check how many PSI i have, just to make sure.
      Thanks

I am working on a basket case for a friend.  It is a 98 Big Bear (YFM350FWB).  It came with a parts machine which is a 96, which I am coming to find out is VERY different from his machine.

Anyway, first thing is first.  I checked compression, 150psi.  Valves are set correctly, and the engine is in time.  I cleaned the carb, and there was some junk in the passages.  It is a chinese carb, which I figured from the lack of markings or lettering altogether.

The bike runs.  It idles ok, but breaks up badly under acceleration.  Pulling a new spark plug shows it is running lean.  White strap, with no black whatsoever.  So I have the carb adjusted with the mixture screw out way too much (about 5 turns), and the diaphragm needle lifted to the top slot.  It is still not getting enough fuel (or too much air).  It backfires through the carb, and cannot get above idle without carrying on.  The carb boot is in good shape, so it isn't pulling any air there.  I did test this as well by spraying ether around the boot when running, looking for intake leaks.

Anything big I am missing here?  I am starting to believe that this chinese carb is the issue.  This quad came with the original carb, which I would like to rebuild and use, but the mixture screw is totally stuck, and stripped way down in its recess.

      Thanks for any assistance.
