2001 Polaris Sportsman 90

A quick question.

My sons 2001 sportsman 90 does not like to start after it has been sitting for about 2 weeks.

I have to crank it a large number of times before it will start up.

Any suggestions on what I can do so it will start up easier?

Everything seems connected correctly and nothing seems loose, I have not pulled the plug as of yet. It is on the to do list.. It runs great once it does start and then I can stop and start it repeatedly with no issue. It's just a bit frustrating with my son waiting to ride and the #$^%@ thing won't start..

Its a 2 stroke. I think you might need to clean the carb but you definitely want to pull the plug and check it first.

When it's cold or warm outside????? I say change plug for sure. Those are cold blooded beast to boot.

The two times I have had issues once it was warm and once it was cold, but I was inside in the garage and the machine was warm when I tried to start it. I will pull the plug when I can find a few free minutes at home.

Definitely pull the plug and see how it looks, 2nd would be the carb, Give it a good cleaning.

Yea,,,,Check the plug.....Ill bet it is Fouled.....Also,,,,I hope you are Draining your Carb Bowl if you let it sit that long.....If you are keeping mixed Fuel in your Tank.....And letting it sit that long between Starts.....You might want to Give the Bike a Shake or Two before opening the Fuel Petcock.....

Well pulled the plug yesterday, it was relatively clean and gapped correctly. The only thing I noticed was that is was not that tightly screwed in. I brushed it clean and put it back in and of course it started right up. We will see how it does... I suppose I just need to get it out and have my son exercise it more

If it was not screwed in all the way that would definitely cause it!
