I have a 93 kingquad that I need help with. It over heats and cant figure out why and hoping some one here can help me. Have stuck a few bucks into it and no change. Put the new right jets in it. Exaused rocker. Head gasket. New boot. It runs real nice and drives but after 15 minutes of run time the exuast gets red. I am stuck and dont know where to turn. Hoping someone here has some advise for me. Any thing you can tell me would be great. THanks

What does your spark plug look like? A lean condition is a likey cause. If you are running lean you may need larger jets. Many factors can effect jetting requirements, elevation, temperature, motor mods..... You need to read the plug to determine wheather you are jetted properly. There are other factors that can effect jetting requirements too. Make sure the carb is clean. Check for air leaks in the intake plumbing, if you are sucking in extra air it will run lean and hot. Check the fuel screw adjustment. Check the timing chain and tensioner. Check the valvle lash. Check the oil pump and oil cooler lines.

Hey thanks guys. I have been thinking and tell me if I am off. Not knowing the history is it possible someone put in a bigger piston and the jets that are called out for are not right. And if the timming is aff a bit would it still run and idle good but still get hot? Thanks

Timing could be an issue, it is worth checking. Going up one or two sizes on the piston will have little to no effect on performance or jetting needs. You need to increase bore size by several mm to make a significant difference, most piston replacements are done .5mm at a time. Google "plug chop" reading the plug is the best way to determine correct jetting. Check everything I mentioned in my first reply. If you have a lean condition, due to an air leak, dirty carb, incorrect jetting or adjustment, you could burn your motor up in no time.

I have a 2007 kingquad 450 fuel injection. I try to start it with the hand crank and almost flip over the quad. I have taken the hand crank off and cleaned it but this did not fix the problem. I believe there is a decompression valve that is supposed to engage when pulling it over by hand. How can I check this?

      I wanted to share a successful workaround for a "no-spark" issue on a 2009 LT-A400.
This is specifically for cases where the CDI has been diagnosed as faulty, but the age or condition of the machine makes the cost of a brand-new OEM unit hard to justify.
Note: This modification compromises the factory “no-start” circuits.
On some malfunctioning CDI units the internally damaged circuitry is only partial.
Feeding full time power to the Parking Brake pin, the unit is triggered to bypass the internal fault and produce a healthy consistent output to the Ignition coil.
      The Modification
See the second diagram attached below for the wiring specifics.
      The Result:
The machine has clocked over 1,000km since this repair and is still running strong with no ignition dropouts.
      ⚠️ IMPORTANT SAFETY WARNING ⚠️
Please be aware that this modification compromises the factory safety "no-start" circuits.
The machine will now start in gear. The safety interlock involving the handbrake is no longer functional. The machine can move unexpectedly if the starter is pressed while in gear. Proceed at your own risk. If you sell the machine or let others ride it, ensure they are fully aware that these factory safety buffers have been removed.

I picked up this ATV that had no spark. The previous owner said he was driving it and it died and would not start. He discovered it had no spark. He replaced the CDI and the coil with no luck. He got tired of it and I bought it. I replaced the stater and now it has strong spark. Now, it starts for a second or two then dies. It will not stay running. I have checked the timing and it is spot on. The valves are adjusted correctly. I see no warn issues with the cam. I put the original CDI and coil back on it. Same problem exists. Compression is at 65 psi (has decompression mechanism),
I took off the muffler in case the issue was clogged pipes. No change. I replaced the spark plug. No change. The carb was an aftermarket so I put a Niche carb on with no change. I bypassed the fuel pump and that did nothing to solve the problem.
I don't know if this is a carb issue or an ignition issue. I am looking around locally for an OEM carb to try out but not sure that will fix the problem.
Can anyone help me solve this problem. I am running out of ideas.
      Thank you for your time
      Bill

I have replaced the cracked stator cover on my non-running 2006 LT-F400F that I purchased recently, checked all the shafts vs the service manual and pics and advice here.  I replaced missing gears, bushings and washers, made sure that truth marks were all aligned properly, that the shift cam springs felt like they returned properly, etc.  IAfter installing the new stator cover I checked the transfer lever for proper movement from L-H-R and then cranked it up.  Happily, it runs and changes gears well in L,  but it will not shift into H or R for anything.  I have opened it back up and am going back through it looking for the missing puzzle piece(s) but how can I best check that I have everything right this time before buttoning it back up?

Does anyone know if they're interchangeable?  I have a 2002 TRX20TE and 2007 TRX250TE, so getting to a set of common engine parts would be ideal.
