Well I have made about 3 repairs to my winchline over the past year and over the weekend I spooled it out and found, that I only have about 25 feet left on a 50" winch cable. I am going to buy a new line, and wanted to see what diameter winch line people are using out there.

I'm considering using 1/4" synthetic over the standard 3/16" Its only ten bucks more and gives you more pull strength. You think the extra 1/16" per wrap will fit on a standard winch spool?

50ft should fit, what kind of winch is it?

I am not sure what you use your winch for most but if you plow a lot I would recommend just buying a 12ft synthetic plow rope this is what i use on mine during plow season and it works great Warn makes these and they hold up a lot better then your standard wire cable, they are also a lot cheaper then buying a 50ft synthetic rope.

Once plow season is over I just pull the 12ft rope off and put the 50ft cable back on for when i am out playing in the mud, hopefully this helps!!

Make sure when you do replace the line that you change out the fairlead as well. If the fairlead was used with cable then it is going to have jagged edges and could damage the new synthetic line that you are putting on. I agree the 12' line is great for someone with a plow.

      Good day everyone!
I am pretty new to ATV/UTV/Small engine repairs and would like input on your absolute must-have specialty tools for maintenance and repairs. Aside from the obvious wrenches and sockets, what are some more specialty type tools you use for troubleshooting? I don't plan to open a repair shop or anything, I just do this as a hobby. Looking forward to your responses!

Looking for two stock front wheels for 92 TRX300 2WD.   I think they are 6 x11" size.

This 2006 ArticCat dvx400 didn't have a reverse cable. I got one and am wondering how it routes? If someone has a dvx400, could post a pic of there reverse cable routing, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I am trying to diagnose a no spark issue with my 02 Big Bear 400 and I am really hoping it is not a CDI.  I have done the test on the stator and I believe that is faulty.  I ordered a new aftermarket one from a the jungle website and it tested bad right out of the box so I am waiting for a different one to arrive from an ATV parts supplier.  I started looking out of curiosity at CDI units and it seems if it is for a big bear you are SOL.  Kodiaks, no problem.  Big Bear. No such luck.

I have a Yamaha Timberwolf 4x4 250. I want to put a winch on it, but just wondering if the charging system will handle it or not ? Has anyone added one to their machine and have you had any issues?
