You need to fix the carb problem you are having before you worry about the idle adjustment. Now, when you say idle screw, are you talking about the fuel screw on the bottom of the carb in front of the float bowl, or the hand screw for the throttle adjustment? Has it been a while since the machine was run, because it sounds like it is not getting enough fuel. A good carb cleaning will probably help if this is the case.

You guys are right it has definatley been sitting awhile not sure exactly how long I sold it to my brother in law a couple years ago he didnt pay me so i went and got it he said it had been sitting but it ran great before he parked it he said he parked it because clutch cable broke(which I fixed) and to start it you have to cross it over at the syloniod ( I put another one on) but it didnt fix the problem do you guys have any suggestions on what that may be as well I actually thought of cleaning the carb what do you suggest to use for that ? tearing it down and soaking it in carb cleaner? I did drain the gas and put fresh in before I tried starting but I am sure there was fuel sitting in the carb all that time too just curious I appreciate your time and again thanks

First, take it completely apart. That means EVERY part that comes off. Soaking the metal parts in a bucket of carb cleaner is ideal, but if you don't have a bucket already, they can be expensive. A gallon bucket of Chem-dip goes for like $40 up here. A can or two of regular carb cleaner will do fine as well. Do you best to remove any fuel residue from all areas of the carb and make sure all passages are un obstructed. The best way to make sure everything is clear is to blow compressed air through them. If you can't blow through some of the smaller holes, ie. jets, use a small piece of wire or carefully poke it out with a small drill bit. Make sure all your gaskets and diaphragms are in good shape and throw it back together. You may need to clean the tank and petcock too, and it probably would be a good idea to replace the fuel filter too.

I picked up this ATV that had no spark. The previous owner said he was driving it and it died and would not start. He discovered it had no spark. He replaced the CDI and the coil with no luck. He got tired of it and I bought it. I replaced the stater and now it has strong spark. Now, it starts for a second or two then dies. It will not stay running. I have checked the timing and it is spot on. The valves are adjusted correctly. I see no warn issues with the cam. I put the original CDI and coil back on it. Same problem exists. Compression is at 65 psi (has decompression mechanism),
I took off the muffler in case the issue was clogged pipes. No change. I replaced the spark plug. No change. The carb was an aftermarket so I put a Niche carb on with no change. I bypassed the fuel pump and that did nothing to solve the problem.
I don't know if this is a carb issue or an ignition issue. I am looking around locally for an OEM carb to try out but not sure that will fix the problem.
Can anyone help me solve this problem. I am running out of ideas.
      Thank you for your time

(Question is at the end if you want to skip my blabbering) I got this unbelievably well taken care of Grizzly 350 in for a carb clean, it belongs to an elderly couple that bought it brand new in '07. Apparently whoever has been doing their oil changes for them never checked the air filter..
Obviously it got debris in the carb, it would still run but only idle with slight choke. I've taken it apart and cleaned it, have new o rings, gaskets, etc. As far as the mixture screw is concerned, I'm assuming I obviously need to remove the plug. I'm mainly a lawn equipment guy, I've worked on slide carbs in the past but never an unmolested one with the plug still intact. I hate to mess with it as the carb had very little debris but I'm sure the o ring needs to be replaced at minimum. Finally, the question: what's the best way of removing the plug? I DO NOT want to mess up this carb..

I recently picked up a  2000 warrior 350 and it doesn’t have the air filter box so I was thinking about using a clamp on filter directly on the carb.  Anyone know what I need to get or where I can find it? The one I ordered goes in the box and won’t fit directly on the carb.
