I finally got a new quad after going 11 years since I sold my banshee. I went and purchased a 05 YFZ 450 from a guy about 1 mile away from me that I found on craigslist. I paid $1800 for it. Its bone stock just like I wanted and is in fantastic condition. I took it out on the lake tonight and wow I did not realize how much I missed having a quad. So I now have a quad for my son and myself and now I have to find the wife one real soon as I think she put more time on the thing tonight than I did. Any ways if anyone is in south east Michigan and close to Oakland county hit me up I have the lake right out my back door and your more than welcome to come over and ride.

AJMBOY I will try to get some pics up tomorrow. Every time I got home from work this week it was to dark to take pics. But we will be on the lake tomorrow for sure. Its supposed to be a balmy 10 degrees so should be fun.

How do you like the YFZ compared to the Banshee? I'm sure the handling is way better on the YFZ, but it is hard to beat the snappy power of a good 2 stroke, and the Banshee was one of the best.

Well so far I am loving the YFZ but I have only had it out on the lake in the snow. And the 4stroke torque is amazing. I did love the banshee but I like the ability to ride out of any gear at any time with out having to keep the RPM's up all the time. I am also 10 years older and much lazier so that might have alot to do with my bias.

I am trying to diagnose a no spark issue with my 02 Big Bear 400 and I am really hoping it is not a CDI.  I have done the test on the stator and I believe that is faulty.  I ordered a new aftermarket one from a the jungle website and it tested bad right out of the box so I am waiting for a different one to arrive from an ATV parts supplier.  I started looking out of curiosity at CDI units and it seems if it is for a big bear you are SOL.  Kodiaks, no problem.  Big Bear. No such luck.

Hi All.  I introduced myself some weeks ago with my 2006 LT-F400F that needed a list of repairs including replacing the cracked generator cover.  It is back together as of last night and cranks up, idles and revs high pretty well.  Needs some fine tuning and stop backfiring at stop.
The big issue is it will not go into gear.  I reassembled the insides with help from y’all’s posts.  The transfer selector moves from H-L-R, and the foot shifter moves thru the gears and finds neutral easily enough.  Before I tear it back open, the  transfer selector on top does not move as far as the repair manual says.  The diagram shows the shaft moving something like 40 degrees between L and H and 50+ degrees between L and R but it doesn’t move that far even though it finds the indent areas and moves well.
Could this be the problem.  I aligned all the dots on the shifter gears inside and it appeared to not be binding anywhere.  I do hear the gears touching when I shift like they are trying to engage, but zero movement from the ARV
It was somewhat difficult to tell whether all the parts are installed on each shaft.
Are there better/bigger photos somewhere that would allow me to be confident I included all the washers and bushings, etc?  If I had any doubt on parts that were laying inside after the cover broke then I purchased replacements from online stores.
TIA for any input or feedback!!  Pics are from when I first took the generator cover off.

Hi, I am new to  this forum and I am happy to be here.  I purchased a Yamaha 350 Big Bear without a title and I cannot find a Vin number to find out what year it is.  I am hoping someone here can help me identify this atv. I checked on the main frame near the front A-arm left side found nothing.  I checked up near the radiator and found nothing.  Where else should I look?  See image below.
