Im not familiar enough with the workings of this bike to know where to start on this one, the problem im having is that suddenly the bike wont start with battery power......it just sort of buzzes/clicks like a dead battery, i charged the battery and got the same result...bought a new battery and again got the same result, thinking maybe i got a crappy battery bc it was a cheap knockoff i bought another new yuasa battery only to again get the same result, but heres what confusses me....on a wimb i tried my jumper box and this p.o.s. starts right up, any ideas on whats going on here would be greatly appreciated

Could be a bad starter, a bad connection, or bad battery cables. Could be that the starter gears are binding up too. Something is causing the starter to draw more current than it should need. I would double check your connections and check your cables by doing a voltage drop test. If you google "voltage drop test" you will find instructions on that. If you are left with the starter being the only thing left to be bad, then I would take it out and take it apart. You may be able to get away with just cleaning it up, or replacing the brushes. Good luck.

i havent had a chance to really get into checking things yet, i did just throw a meter on it real quick though and it looks like i have a voltage drop to between 9.6 and 10.3 on the 3 diff batteries....i also just tried jumping out the solenoid but that didnt turn it over either on just battery power...but just like before, hook the jumper box up and it cranks right on

When you say you have a voltage drop, do you mean that you actually did the test and you are losing 9.6 to 10.3 volts when you hit the start button?, or do you mean that you are getting a reading of 9.6 to 10.3 volts from the battery? If you are getting an actuall drop that big doing the voltage drop test, then you have a bad connection or bad cables, if you are only reading that voltage at the battery, then you have weak batteries. Make sure your batteries are fully charged, then see how the starter works.

1. bad connection or cables, bad cables unlikely on that new a unit. pull the ground lead and clean it where it bolts to the frame. Positive: goes to the starter- take it off and clean it. battery end: take em off and clean them. these MUST be clean or you won't get enuf voltage to the starter, just like now.

2. starter button is a ground. did you change bars recently?

3. battery. I've never seen 3 bad in a row, but who knows? that is a 12 volt remember when you charge it up.

4. starter: it could be shot. here's where you need to take it to a shop where they can bench test the draw- that'll tell you if it's OK or not. maybe an auto parts store will do it for you. AutoZone could do it if they WILL do it. They have the right equipment. If not, dealer- just take the starter. this is #4 on the list cuz it is least likely. check the other stuff first OK?

Hi guys, I have a 2004 big bear 400. Last winter while plowing the driveway, I heard a loud pop from the left side of the engine. It continued to run as I looked for leaky fluid, but then died shortly after backing it up and won’t start now. The oil light comes on when I try to start it, no noise or anything else.
No blown fuses that I can find.

Hi all.  New to the forum & quads.  Seems like a great place full of info.
I just recently picked up a 2005 Suzuki KingQuad LTA700.  I need a battery.  I've been reading up on conventional vs AGM types.  I have a Royal Distributing and Canadian Tire.  RD has 2 types avail for my year/Model a battery YTX16-BS CRANK $75, and BATTERY YTX20CH-BS YUASA $140.  Neither of these is the type from the manual FTZ16-BS.
from what I can tell... I think the only difference is the capacity with the $75 unit rated at 14 AH/10HR and the $140 unit rated at 18 AH/10HR ... which is the rating in the manual for the FTZ16-BS.  How much does this make a difference for nearly x2 the cost?
And about the models/type numbers.... what is important to know ... they all end in "-BS" but are the other details relevant or just manufacturer naming?
