Yes, see if it is leaking. It's thevalve that turns the fuel off, on, and reserve.

I don't think any EFI machines use a petcock, I know my LT-R doesn't have one. So you only notice the leaking when you fill the tank? Does it only leak once you fill it past a certain point? I would take all the plastic off the top and fill the tank up while you can see all the hoses.

Good point, I was thinking of my grizzly and forgot that this machine is fuel injected. I should know that because I owned one...

I have a 2005 Yamaha Kodiak 400 Automatic. It has an oil leak inside clutch cover. The middle gear has two oil seals, the front seal is leaking engine oil into clutch area. How do you change the leaking seal?

posted a while back - it was running at one point - I have all the plastic shroud off - it's down to frame and engine now
-fuel pump: when line from petcock is attached, no fuel comes out other side to carb; the line to the carb is open (can blow through it); I thought when I cranked engine that the pump would spit out fuel on other side but it does not; I removed fuel pump and opened it up - diaphragm looks good - but internal areas had lotsa calcification build up - I cleaned this out and dried it good - the clear plastic pieces (?diaphragms) aren't broken - the spring w/ steel ball on end moves freely; am putting it back on tomorrow; but can anyone answer about the pump? isn't it supposed to pump fuel through it... to other side... to carb? puzzling
-along with fuel pump: I replaced petcock 3 weeks ago (gas tank had rusty fuel in bottom - cleaned it out prior to new petcock); when I turn petcock arrow NOT to on or reserve, fuel comes out of line; when I turn it to on or reserve, fuel doesn't come out; puzzling
-I don't know what's on back of fuel pump - it's a valve that has a hose coming out of it - looks like it goes to engine/carb - I haven't traced this out yet - what is it?
-can squirt gas on air filter and engine will run for 2-3 seconds then stop - fuel in top of carb (under diaphragm) does same
-it likely needs carb rebuild - will get to this - but something isn't allowing fuel to get from fuel pump to carb
-I THINK it has a mikuni model x carb - diaphragm is ID 26mm  OD 68mm - hard to find inexpensive diaphragm, I guess because it's a model x
-last thing - I replaced solenoid due to old one clicking; I HAVE to be charging the battery or it won't start/turn over - battery just goes dead; but if charging, it'll turn over nicely; i'm guessing it's a bad battery
-any help appreciated - I've never owned an ATV before - inherited this beast from grandparent in-law

      Hi,
Oddly I'm having  a hard time ordering front brake shoes for my '98.
I'd appreciate recommendations on decent, widely available shoes if possible. Ideally available in Canada on short notice.

      Thanks much,

Picked up a 2000 prairie 300 4x4. It is leaking out of the rear output seal where the driveshaft contacts to the engine. I'm havi g a really hard time finding out how to remove the driveshaft online, finding a service manual, and finding the seal on a parts diagram. Anyone know how to remove the driveshaft or know where a service manual is for it?
      Thanks

I have 2007 650 brute. Looks like oil leaking at head gasket.. Can head gaskets leak oil
    • By PolarisRich
      Hey guys,
A friend dropped off his late 80's Big Bear 350 for me to give it a once over. You know, oils's, brakes and grease. I thought I was done with the bike when I noticed a pool of oil under the bike. It looked like it was coming from the clutch cover. It looks like someone has worked in the clutch before because of all of the sloppy blue silicone around the cover.
Now my questions since i dont have a manual are..
      1) Can I just remove the cover and not have to worry about pieces of the drivetrain falling out?
      2) Is there a gasket, do I need a gasket or can i just clean and re-silicone?
      3) I noticed a clutch adjuster on the cover, do I need to do anything to it before I remove the cover or or just leave it alone?
I've not worked on too many Yamaha's before so any help would be appreciated!
      Thanks Rich

I have a 2003 kodiac. New to me, great bike. It seems I have developed a oil leak at the rear. Sems to be coming from the boot that comes out of the transmission.
Has anyone had to replace a seal back there or is there another area the leak may be coming from?
      Thanks for any help.
