1997 Yamaha Big Bear 350 wont start

HI all, I am some what new to the world of quads. I purchased a yamaha big bear moto four used. I ran it a little this spring and it was running good when I parked it for a couple of weeks. Now it wont start. It turns over but there is no spark.

Could you guys give me any ideas. Thank for any replies.

Welcome to QUADCRAZY! Did you check for fuel? Yamaha carbs can get corroded making the float pin stick, after sitting a while.

What year is that?

Sorry about the lack of imformation. It is supposed to be a 97 but some of the wiring does not seem to match up right according to my book. The fuel is fine. It just has no spark.

i had no spark on my 91 and replaced the stator. friends told me yamaha was bad fora few years with stators. an aftermarket cost a little over 200 here in canada.

Have you checked your plug? Otherwise it could be a stator.

Before you spend the bucks on something you dont need.

Pull off all the body parts and check each wire connection. Clean them a add dielectric grease to EVERY connection including the spark plug and cap.

Also a bad battery can cause the lack of spark.

DO NOT TRY AND JUMP IT WITH A CAR battery - HIGH CRANKING AMP batteries COULD DAMAGE THE "CDI" ELECTRONICS.

If you get it started check the DC voltage going to the battery. If its between 13.5 and 14 volts your stator is OK.
