Hello I have an issue when the battery dies all the electrical componets start to fail.I removed the batery started it ran fine but nothing turned on no lights no cooling fan nothing.I though it can run without the battery.I think I have a alternator problem.

How old is the battery? Put a good charge on it or get a new one if the charge dont work.

This is my third battery.When I pull start the engine without the battery in place it starts up fine but I have no lights no cooling fan. I meter it at the battery terminal and it reads 1.5 volts. I'm thinking it's the alternator .

Check all your body grounds first. Meaning take every ground off and clean them first. Check the tightness of the ground bolts. Once that is done then proceed with your troubleshooting. Guessing costs money so be 100% sure. D/L a shop manual and follow their test procedures.

If you replace the battery how long does it hold up before it quits working days ,weeks, months. If the battery keeps loseing it's charge you may have an electirical problme that is draining the battery.

I have to agree, check all your grounds. Also check your voltage regulator and stator. What does it read at higher rpms? It's a 12V battery and should be reading 13V + i would think.

I read somewhere that there is a recall on some stators. What year is your quad?

If you can run it with out the battery then I would think that the problem is not your alternator, as the alternator is providing the voltage to provide spark. Did your gauge cluster die before this happened? (no speedometer, and Loss of 4 wheel drive) I know the units in the 2000's had an issue with water getting into the gauge cluster, and EVERYTHING runs through that damn thing.
