  6. My 2004 polaris scrambler 500 started to backfire ,then i was able ti limp it into the driveway and it died . I tried to start it but when i turned the key there was no power to the rest of the quad . my winch still worked but its wired straight to the battery . I had noticed a sound coming from the sylenoid by the battery during previous times i started the engine but then i would turn off the head light and it would start fine . I replaced that but still no dice with the rest of the system . Anyone else ever had this problem ???
  7. I jus got a 04 polaris scambler. The guy ensured the 4x4 works but he had the chain slid off and zip tied to the frame for the 4x4. Well i took the chain off cause it looks rough and was in the way. However before i replace the 4x4 chain, i engauged the 4x4 to see if the sprocket would even turn. And it did. The problem is i hit the 4x4 awd button again to turn it off and the sprocket is still turning for the awd, is there a specific way to disengauge the awd 4x4? Also the main drive chain and the other chain are rather loose, they are just tight enough for it not to come off, is this average? Should it be tighter it seems or do they run them like that. Another thing i have a problem w is the read brakes, aka right foot brake. The guy took the caliper off and everything is has no rear brakes. I need to buy all of that, what exactly all do i need, theres jus a rotor there. And any diagram for installation?
  8. Can someone help me diagnose a wheel wobble? My left rear wheel wobbles. It does it on 2 different set of tires so I can say it is not the rim and I replaced the hub so its not that. What are my next steps in figuring it out or does someone already know Thanks in advance for any and all help Regina
  9. I bought a 2000 polaris scrambler, that will not start ,I had the carb rebuilt bought a new battery and clean :confused:the air filter system and bought a new spark plug and installed everything properly and the bike still will not start I have placed an extra hot wire on the spark plug to the sparkplug wire and it is getting low spark because it shock me ,So now I have bought a new ignition coil that I need to install I am not sure if that is going to get the little engine to fire anybody got any other ideas ?
  10. I have a 2000 Polaris Scrambler 50 with a new starter and new battery. The battery and starter are strong but when engaging the starter it wont start. But it will start with a manual crank. There are 3 unconnected wires under the cover, but I dont know where they go. Am I missing a part that might be preventing the starter from starting it? Maybe some safety switch or something? Does anyone have a manual for this model for download? Thanks in advance for any help!
  11. i have a 2000 polaris scrambler i can jump it off and it will run but my battery won't charge on the bike if i charge the battery it will start just fine and the lights work for a wile. any ideas?

  14. I have a 2001 polaris scrambler 500 (2x4) I have recently added a K&N filter with filter cover FMF power core 4 muffler I wrapped my exhaust in heat wrap I have noticed an increase an power it gets to top speed way quick but i was wondering about my rpm's i have noticed just going about 20 mph my rpm's are higher than they used to be people have told me i need to replace my clutch aka get a clutch kit i know i need to replace the belt already looked at it will a clutch kit help lower the rpm's or is it because i have more air running in and out of the quad because of the K&n and a fmf muffler which allows more air flow their for more power.
  15. Ok I've finally done me research and got my products on amazon for my polaris scrambler 500 2x4 it is a fast bike to begin with but i wanted to improve throttle response and ad a little bit more power to the bike also bought other stuff for riding like stuff to improve the quad not just parts accessories to so I bought... FMF POWER CORE 4 MUFFLER-$205 ACERBIS HANDGUARDS-$34 EXHAUST WRAP-$25-$35 K&N AIR FILTER-$33 K&N AIR FILTER SCREEN-$12.50-$13 SANDPAPER TAPE FOR EXTRA GRIP ON FLOOR PLATE-$13.04 LED LIGHT BAR 7 INCH -$30 PLUS METAL FOR MOUNTING SO ABOUT $40 TOTAL UPGRADE COST=$357.04 after clutch kit -$190 = 547.04 This will add better throttle response and ad more power and with the k&n a little better fuel economy I got the handguards for protection from cactus trees tree branches flying rocks mud and cold air you know the everyday riding awareness's / watch outs (EVERYONES WITH A POLARIS SCRAMBLER THIS IS THE STUFF TO ADD OH AND ADD A CLUTCH KIT WELL WORTH IT

  17. do i buy the 2x4 or 4x4 this is my personal opinion please don't comment all negative things I have a 2x4 polaris scrambler and in my opinion its SOMETIMES the better buy because its usually cheaper less to repair if 4x4 goes out and lighter weight which equals higher top speed aka a faster bike i have never got in a situation were i couldn't get out of it because i had a 2x4 ever i am a very experience rider though if your not you might want the 4x4 the 4x4 is way heavier than the 2x4 obviously SHOW ME YOU SCRAMBLER UPLOAD SOME PICS
  18. power core 4 for 01 polaris scrambler 500 2x4 or 4x4 is a great investment well worth the $204-$260 price tag you don't have to jet but you can to get the real power boost the muffler will provide
  19. Hey I was wondering i recently saw those trail tech quad computers and they have one for the polaris scrambler 500 4x4 but i have the 2x4 would it fit i would love it because it shows speed,RPM,Temperature,Shift points and etc. But I don't want to buy it and then it not work because its kind of pricy to have to return its like $100 on amazon please let me know if it will fit I would love it on my (2x4) polaris scrambler 500
  20. Hi i have an 01 polaris scrambler 500 2x4 I would like to buy black rims and new tire but its hard to find ones for my scrambler I would like size 12 rims and nobbyer tires but i would like to replace all 4 rims and tire but without totally breaking the bank any suggestion I found some bb rims their black and made for my quad tire suggestions? 21. 22. I am troubleshooting a problem with an 1997 Polaris Scrambler 500 and I could use some help. It will start and idle with no problems. When I give it throttle, it sputters, cuts out, backfires, etc. (very similar to having water in the gas). I have done the following: cleaned the carb & checked settings/jets (it is perfect), adjusted fuel screw (no change), checked intake for leaks (all good), replaced & gapped spark plug, fresh fuel, new fuel filter, fuel pump holds pressure and appears to be pumping fuel, exhaust is not plugged, air filter is in good shape, cam chain tensioner & cam timing (good shape), pulled the black wire on the rev limited (no change), added a battery charger to see if voltage was causing problems (no change). I ran a leak down test and found that I am leaking approx. 10%. I could not detect air coming out of the intake or exhaust ports, so I am assuming that I am leaking past the rings into the bottom end. Another thing I found was that the valves were very loose. They should be at .006" and the clearance I measured ranged from .008" to .014". I believe the exhaust side was the higher measurement. Would the rings and potentially worn valvetrain cause this issue? Should I look elsewhere, like at the stator? Any help is appreciated.
  23. It just started a few days ago, when you start it up it idles perfect but as soon as you give it throttle it starts popping and cracking like its flooding out...I thought it was the carb. boot bc it had a hole on both sides of it. Replaced it nd it still does no better. Checked spark plug, valve clearance, air cleaner nd made sure no water in fuel. It sounds like a vacume leak or water in the fuel. Or like the timing is retard. I only have a maintenance manual. I would b much abliged if someone could give me an idea? THANK YOU!
