Prairie update 3 hours later

Recommended Posts

Got my new seals today for the front diff. I hope to get them in soon and then it will be ready to ride. It would have been much easier if I would have changed them before I put the diff in But I took the guys word their was nothing wrong with the diff. Seals are no big deal!

Never let anyone tell you anything... Trust no one!

Here is what happen today 1st seal good 2nd seal good 3rd seal "O" CRAP bearings and metal falling out. I dont understand how I was able to ride with this diff. Thank God the pinion gear was still in good shape I was able to use everything I needed from my diff with the combo I have a good working diff I still have to adjust the diff lock & my tail light/ blinker is not working. If I don't mess with painting the wheel & plastics it's DONE!!!!!!!! I rode it for about 20 to 30 mins.

I went riding today and nothing fell off or broke I did for get to put 3 rubber sleves on the frame for the gas tank but their on now. Diff lock is still not working I'm going to have to take a little more time to adjust it & tail light still isn't working I'm going to try a new bulb. The bulb looks good but I tried 2 switches the 1 that came with the frame and my old one the brake light worked with my old 1 but nothing now is working. Other than that it's did good.

Well heres the update for today. Some of you will know what I'm talking about remember the old cars every time the moved the suspension would squeak. My quad was doing the same thing it was as loud as the motor my wife heard me comming up the driveway & when I came in the house I got that question! What did you break? Nothing I just got it squeaky clean. So I took the a-arms off and greased the heck out of them. It was driving me crazy I cut my ride short. The grease worked & I got the diff lock working like it should today.

My king quad 700 runs rough when cold then won't start some times but not often when it's hot. And occasionally smoke's a lot when it's cold I'm guessing that's rings but I'm worried unless it's causing the other problems

      All help is appreciated thanks

My friends KQ 300 starts fine and runs, as soon as you put it in gear and try to accelerate its bucks and farts like crazy, not moving... I cleaned carb and it worked good for 1 day... now back to same problem.... could it be such as a bent valve????

Bucking started about a month ago and works ok after 1/2 hour warmup.  Today while working on it i discovered that if i put the ignition switch in LIGHT position it runs fine right from the start.
I'm stumped!  Any idea why this could be?

This is something I'm extremely curious about. Has anyone ever attempted to buy a quad (or any other vehicle) from an impound lot? I've always wondered if this could be a bargain, or a waste of time. Google searches do turn up some helpful results. Looks like the state of NJ holds auctions online which I'd be a bit hesitant about.

My online searches haven't really turned up any results of anyone buying an ATV this way. I'd be really curious if anyone tried this, or knows someone who has. I've actually found a couple pages with online auctions for my state, but none had ATVs.

Hi, I have been around everything with a motor since I was little, and finally purchased more to get my husband, and kids involved. I have 4 quads I will be searching around for information on. I have two 2002 Suzuki LT80K quads, a 1997 Yamaha Timberwolf 250, and a 1996 Kawasaki Bayou 220. I have had different ones throughout the years, and plan on buying another Yamaha Banshee. I plan on trying to learn more about all of them, so I can customize some of them. I know nothing about them besides how to race them, my dad always took care of the rest, but figured it was time for me to learn.
