1987 Suzuki LT- 4WD

Just purchased 1987 LT-4WD from the estate of a deceased neighbor. It started when I brought it home but dripped gas from carb overflow. I put in a carb kit and a new choke plunger. Starts and runs better, but it won't idle and after running for 2 - 3 minutes the gas starts dripping. I took it to local dealer and he didn't see anything that would cause it. He suggested as a remote possibility that the fuel pump could be over pumping. Any suggestions and comments are welcome

try replacing the fuel lines first or clean them out as best you can

When you installed the carb kit, did it include new floats?? Even if you replaced the needle and seat, if the float doesn't float, then it will continue pushing fuel into the carb. An easy way to test them is to pull out the floats and drop them into a container of fuel to see if they are buoyant. If they aren't, replace the floats. If they are, you may need to adjust the arm controlling the needle and seat, or replace the needle and seat if it won't seal. Hope this helps.
