My neighbor who had hip surgery 6 years ago parked his King Quad in a shed and it has not been fired up since that time. He replaced the battery, but could not get the unit to run. He asked me for assistance, so we towed the unit over to my shop. I got the unit running, but could not keep it idling without turning up the the RPMs...and when I tried to drive the unit it seems like it ran out of gas after a couple of hundred yards. I tore the carburetor out...dropped the float bowl and discovered a bug (about the size of a housefly) in the bottom. I removed the bug...cleaned what jets and other components I could, put the unit back together...with the same results. I once again removed the carburetor...have removed the plug for access to the pilot needle adjustment and I am preparing to dunk the whole unit into a can of carburetor cleaner. I cannot get the diaphragm screws loose and was wondering if that would hurt the rubber diaphragm if I just left it on the carb...and what should the pilot needle adjustment be set to. Any help would be appreciated.

Chet

P.S. What should the fuel switch under the gas tank be set to. On-Pri-Reserv

Take a dremel to and cut a slot across the screws in the diaphragm cover then remove the screws with a straight screw driver.

Set the petcock to pri, this lets fuel flow all the time not just when the engine is cranking.

Thanks...removed the diaphragm, removed all the jets..soaked the whole carb in carb cleaner...still have a question regarding the setting of the pilot needle adjustment...it is a mikuni 19BE K681...pilot was set at 3 turns out, but the unit still is not idling right...since I removed the plug for cleaning I now have access to that adjustment...any clues

Thanks

Chet, Thuds4evr here.

I have been following your post and am wondering if you solved the idling problem .

I am new to the forum, do not know that I will be able to contribute much as I see the guys in here are a long ways out in front of me on 4 whlrs. It sure is great to see how quick they are to jump in and offer help though. Have been other type forums that this sure was not the case. Tom

Hi all.  New to the forum & quads.  Seems like a great place full of info.
I just recently picked up a 2005 Suzuki KingQuad LTA700.  I need a battery.  I've been reading up on conventional vs AGM types.  I have a Royal Distributing and Canadian Tire.  RD has 2 types avail for my year/Model a battery YTX16-BS CRANK $75, and BATTERY YTX20CH-BS YUASA $140.  Neither of these is the type from the manual FTZ16-BS.
from what I can tell... I think the only difference is the capacity with the $75 unit rated at 14 AH/10HR and the $140 unit rated at 18 AH/10HR ... which is the rating in the manual for the FTZ16-BS.  How much does this make a difference for nearly x2 the cost?
And about the models/type numbers.... what is important to know ... they all end in "-BS" but are the other details relevant or just manufacturer naming?

The battery on my Big Bear drops completely down in the battery compartment nothing sticks up to grip too, plus there is only 1/8" clearance along the sides, no way to get a grip on it to pull up out of battery compartment. I thought about putting a piece nylon strap under the battery and leaving enough up each side to give me something to pull it up out ff the battery compartment or using a big zip tie around the battery.
Any others have any ideas or have had this issue.

Anyone with experience on relocating the miniscule battery from the front lower center wheel area to the left rear wheel area on the Polaris Sportsman 570?

My 2004 Yamaha Grizzly 660 is still going strong but the battery has not been holding a charge. I replaced it a few years back and have been jumping it lately but after sitting for a few days, it drains out. I recently purchased two car batteries from Weize directly because it was a good price for an AGM. I looked on weize for a YTX20HL-BS and its an AGM at $59.99. I believe they have a promo code you can find. Found it cheaper on Amazon and intalled it yesterday.

I ended up buying the same one on Amazon which is $49.99 with a $20% coupon bringing it down to $39.99, which is a pretty good price for an ATV AGM battery.

Just a heads up if anyone needs a new ATV/UTV battery going into winter.
YTX20HL-BS fits a a good amount of models.

Hello folks, I have a Polaris 500 Scrambler. Not positive I need a new battery.  The folks I got the ride from said they put a new battery on it right before selling it to me. It's been a couple cold months before I tried starting it. After jumping it now, I let it idle plus revved it quite a bit for about 20 minutes. Then I shut it off and tried to restart barely turns over and that's it? Am I not giving it enough charge time maybe need to actually ride it? The battery on it is a Continental CTX9-BX. I lf a new battery is needed would maybe Amazon have a decent one? Thanks!
