  1. I have to pull my 500R apart again and get the crank balanced like I should have done before I even put the new crank in. I was so discouraged by the thought of not having anything to ride, I was forced to buy an LT R450. I like it really well, but I really can't wait the have the big 2-stroke back. The 450 is alot easier to ride though, the 500R is kind of like wrestling a bear in comparison

  2. First thing I would do is check for spark and do a compression test. If those are ok and it still won't start, then open up the carb and make sure all the fuel passages are clear ie, jets, fuel lines, petcock, and make sure the floats aren't stuck and are properly adjusted.

  3. I would go with the 400EX out of all of those. It will give you the most room to grow. I think the smaller bikes will leave you wanting more after a while. The Suzuki LTZ 400 is a very good bike and it has two clones, the Kawi KFX 400 and the Artic Cat DVX 400. Those are water cooled where the 400EX is air cooled, and they perform better all the way around. They are great trail machines.

  4. The Raptor has a bigger slower revving engine with a ton of bottom end torque. The 450's are more racy, quick revving motors but not as much torque as the big Raptor. It is less work riding a Raptor because you don't have to worry as much about gear selection because it has so much torque. The 450's need to be kept in the right part of the power curve in order to be fast. Personally, I like the higher strung, quicker revving motors for balls-out riding, I think they are alot more fun. That's why I ride a 2-stroke, but if I were ever to buy a 4-stroke, it would be a 450, because they are snappier than the bigger bikes.
