  1. Thanks for the tip! The Big Bear is the only one of mine im having this problem with, the Suzuki shift all the way down and neutral light comes on, Big Bear same shift pattern all the way down doesnt come on but it in neutral because i can roll it, i have to lift a tad on the shift petal to get the light to come on.
  2. You are welcome! Let us know how it works out.
  3. I agree the service manuals, leave a lot to be desired, and they do assume you know what you are doing, well if i knew i wouldnt be buying the service manual, and my favorite line, reverse procedure to put back together, no tip tricks or anything, they dont always go back togrther as easy as they come apart. Yes the yamaha drain plug is crap, i think it was 18 or 19mm i cant remember exactly, my differential plug was no better also stripped 6mm allen and i had to chiesel it off.
  4. Still not sure about the carb, but i tool a closer look at your photo and oomed it up , it does look like that could be the mixture screw, but i dont see how you are turning it at that angle, thats makes more sense that the one with the knurled knob would be the idle adjustment screw, although it appears a little low on the carb.
  5. Yes it is different, i should have looked it up , i thought they all had vacum slides now. Your cable adjusting screw is the big silver piece closesst to the carb, just make sure the slide is all the way down with no pressure on the throttle.
  6. I noticed that also , but this is the one listed for the 90 Moto 4. Maybe has a different carb or is a different model, i looked at 89 and 90 and the carb was the same. I thought the knurled knob was the mixture adjustment also , but i had never seemn one with a knurled knob.
  7. You just want to make sure the throttle plate on the carb is closed all the way when the throttle is not being pushed, if needs adjustment, take the cable out and there are 2 nuts that you can move to get the correct tension on the cable. You can see the 2 nuts for adjusting in this phot, this is on a suzuki but it should be similar.
  8. I just pulled up a diagram of your carb. i cant really tell which screw you are pointing to with the screwdriver, but the fuel mixture screw is # 16 on the diagram, and # 7 is your choke plunger, make sure its not stuck. That carb does not look like its been rebuilt recently, you might want to pull it and make sure everything is right.
  9. Excellent, i forgot to mention the O ring it sometimes gets left out or not seated properly.
  10. Freshly rebuilt carb running rich, no change with the mixture screw. my only conclusion would be wrong jet size or float height.
  11. Just now seeing your post. Thanks its always a great day, getting together with kids and grandkids.
  12. Welcome!
  13. To really tune the new carb you need to get the air filter installed. If its an aftermarket carb you may need to adjust the cable length for the throttle, they do not always fit exact, may be why its idling too fast. Try adjusting the mixture screw to see if it will run better.
  14. Maybe, im guessing, i see more freshly rebuilt carbs running lean than rich, and usually you can smell it at the exhaust if its rich enough to bog, plus smoke at the exhaust.
  15. Tne seats look very good, you did a great job. I agree with the pneumatic stapler tip, every time i do one i say im going to have to get a better stapler, last one i did i got an electric stapler it didnt do any better than the mechanical one. I will have to try a pneumatic one.
  16. Spray some carb cleaner around the intake where the carb attaches to the engine if it speeds up that is where your air leak is, you might also look for open vacum ports on the carb, and makes sure all the vacum hoses are attached to where they are supposed to go. Not sure if your model has a vacum operated petcock, some times they will leak.
  17. I have had that happen before, generally somethings not right with the carb, usually a massive air or vacum leak causing an overly lean condition that the adjuster screw cant adjust out.
  18. You have been busy, sounds like its coming together nicely. Good choice deciding not to rip out the existing harness its usually easier to repair the existing one. Sometimes i can find Wix oil filters ot Oreilys but not all the time, so you did good to order it. The last time i just ordered the Yamaha one from Amazon, it came in a 2 pack.
  19. Did it just stop like you turned the key off, or did it start running poorly first?
  20. Welcome, great site, hope you enjoy it.
  21. How much oil is getting into the airbox?
  22. Do you just have no spark or other issues as well.
  23. Turn it in to make it leaner.
  24. Is this a rebuilt Mikuni carb
