  1. Gas leaking past the needle and seat into hot combustion chamber, might be worth checking.
  2. A little concerned the spark plug electrode was bent was it bent alot or just out of gap.
  3. I always hate to hear when something like this happens, especially on a big purchase like this. I dont like getting lawyers involved either, but it might end up being necessary, that cost money also, i think i would continue trying to get the company to talk to you to find out what happened. Did the company have decent ratings as far as customer service or people happy with their purchase.
  4. I would just keep trying if who you bought it from is only a distributing company may you should try contacting the manufacturer maybe they can help, they dont like it when dealers do not offer good customer service. Is the one you got bad or you just dont like it as well.
  5. I was just making a judgement based on US Governments push for more battery powered cars, but that is a very good point how well do they work in cold weather, maybe they have a built in heater, i know very little about them.
  6. I remember this thread from a while back, didnt you buy something new, and try to straighten the frame, im assuming it didnt work.
  7. Dont see very many of those right hand drive Jeeps down here any more, they were all replaced in 1986 by the Grumman LLV, made for the US Postal Service, they have had a long run probably will be replaced by something electric.
  8. Thats good to hear that, if mail carriers are using them great reliability. Our mail carriers still use the same old mail trucks that replaced the DJ5 Jeeps, they must be super reliable, i dont even know what make they are.
  9. Good info Mech! I keep forgetting you can do that on Partzilla. Suprizingly my memory was good. I saw a couple of 2000 frames on Ebay for way too much money. I think if i wanted to go that route i would be looking for a parts bike locally, sometimes they go cheap and you have a lot of extra parts
  10. Thats a big job, never could get it right. Im not sure about frame swap, i know the 350 was different the battery holder was down next to the rear tire. The 2000 big bear 400 was the first year and i think it changed fairly rapidly on the early models, im thinking maybe 2000-01 were the same and then there were some changes but maybe not in the frame. I havent been able to find any information on that yet, but im looking.
  11. Outback Update: We have had this 2024 Subaru Outback for a few months now, and i will have to say i am extremely impressed. It is so smoothe on acceleration and the standard engine has plenty of power for me and im used to driving V8s, maybe i expect less than most people, that was a big complaint with the standard engine, i dont really run an engine hard. It is very nice to look down and see 28 MPG around town, better than sticker rating, havent got the 32 on highway, usually 30 to 31, but i have trouble keeping it below 80, it just kind of sneaks up there, so probably if i watched that closer or used the cruise control it would get the 32. Plus we have onlu put about 3000 miles on it so far. The interior is very impressive, i got the Limited package so it has the leather seats, they are camel colored with black trimm and adds a good contrat to the black dash. There were a lot of complaints about the leather being cheap and not holding up, so far good, but it is perforated leather and i can see how that wouldnt be as strong as full leather, like the jeep has, which is still perfect after 11 years, never were the most comfortable seats but they held up well, all the different makes we looked at had the same perforated leather, never did see one with full leather like you used to get, maybe the Lincolns, Mercedes and some of the other $100,000 plus vehicles that is an option.
  12. Vittaci is a company in Texas that only sells to businesses. Perfect, nice litlle bike, it has a 110cc Honda clone engine so i think parts are readily available , lots of those engines out there. It does have a throttle limiter which you can adjust , but at 9 it wont be long before he is going to want full power Vitacci Motorcycles Inc. 2244 Luna Rd, Ste 140 Carrollton, TX 75006 Sales:
  13. Yeah, Mine was stripped also had to do the same. That is the softest metal i have ever seen for a drain plug.
  14. I rewatched your video did you get the surge worked out at full throttle or is that still there.
  15. Good idea! Glad that worked out for you, i am not a big fan of spacers but they work if you need them to.
  16. This is not the starter that was on the quad it is the one that i got off ebay the only one OEM that would fit, teeth were worse than i thought, but got it dirt cheap and it does work, a mistake. Last time i was with the quad i got the starter loose but never could get it out without pulling the air box and i ran out of time, when i go there i have to mow 4 acres crank and service all the equipment check the house and other things. I do remember that teeth were also missing off the starter but couldnt get it out far enough to see if it was the long shaft or short shaft, srarter. I think im going to buy a new Niche starter for it and see how that works out.
  17. Im going to go there in a few weeks, so im trying to gather up what i will need to get it going, not sure about how the starter is going to mesh from the looks of the bad gear that came out of it should mesh further in to cover all the teeth , which would be the longer shaft starter, thats what i have to determine did they put the wrong starter in and does it actually take the longer shaft starter even though 86 is listed for the same starter as the Big Red 250 3 wheeler. Maybe like you said it does have a newer engine. I think i will go with one of the new aftermarket starters it should be fine with the hoonda gear.
  18. That is strange getting a sudden boost of power, and how long does this sudden increase in power last, does it do it at high RPMs or just randomly.
  19. I have been slowly gathering up parts for when i go back to work on it, i found an new OEM honda gear on Ebay, so i ordered it , waited and waited and no gear i was in no particular hurry so i just waited, yesterday there was a note on my door SORRY WE MISSED YOU, from the post office i had to sign to get my package,. It came from Japan, i never paid attention to where the seller was located, but it was free shipping, i would have thought the shipping would have been more than i paid for the part, $39.00. Very nice gear compared to the aftermarket one. That is probably why there are so many failures. I also got a used OEM starter from ebay, works but not in the best of shape gear wise, i was just going to replace the armature but havent been able to find one. It will probably work OK but the gear is a little knarly looking. Any of you guys ever used Caltric or Nicci starters, i may just get a new aftermarket, maybe better than this one. The gear compared to aftermarket honda one is on the left Starter teeth are fairly chewed up, but meshes up fairly well, but am not really comfortable with it.
  20. So how is it coming, any new problems.
  21. I have also tried jacking it up to keep from loosing the oil and it always just makes a mess, better to just drain the oil in a clean container and pour it back in.
  22. You have been busy, got the clutches off and got it out. The new one works thats great news. The piece that is out of place is the reverse shift shaft assembly, it is spring loaded and rides against the shift drum. This illustration is from a 2001 manual.
