Hey to you! I especially love the Maritime Provinces. It was the first time I had their Bake Beans and Eggs breakfast....Fredricksburg,CA...I as there for the Forth of July one time. When I came down to eat dinner at the Hotel, they had small US flags set for me at my table! Bay Of Fundy, Halifax and St John's, and of course Charlottetown, PEI. ( I never did see a whale) However, it was the first time I had Tim Horton's coffee! And I must mention the "Newfies" I loved Goose Bay, Newfoundland...Damn it is windy along the coast in Newfoundland The fishermen would bundle up in winter clothing as they headed out; then strip down to their underwear when the got out into the Gulf Stream where it was warm to fish. Fist time I had Cod Fish tongue. .The people are super nice in the Maritimes. Precious memories!

OK Tomorrow.

On my Mr Alawys Ready, Yamaha 700, I can run the cvt through its paces without the belt housing covers. That good to see if he is up to performance and ready to ride.

I am tired of working on it....I'll take to W Va and work on it. Finishing up gauges install on my Sand Rail. Oil pressure gauge with a Transducer signal to eliminate oil tube.

Well its clean!

OK good Idea. I have an Identical starter that works,. Its in WVa ...I'll be in WVa late next week . I am waiting for the winter storm to pass this weekend. I am going to finish clean this one and try it again before I leave. .

Rinse with cleaner....
-
Yes That was also swirling around in my mind but did not mention that. I cannot get the magnets apart so I think I will just douche them with cleaner.

The internet cited 'Egg shaped belts" as a clear sign of pending failure due to heat, too much tension. I have seen a lot of industrial belt failures on variable speed drives, Varidrive is the most common industrial drive ( electricians get called on everything and have to prove it was not an electrical failure but was a Mechanical failure). Varidrive uses the same/similar mechanical sheave technology as CTV's. VariDrive belts will egg shape but more commonly distort and not lay flat because one side is longer than the other, edge wear , cord showing , belt has a dome in it. Some if not all CTV require high heat belts . Inspect sheave for groves ...wear. Hope that helps

I am going to wrap the commutator in fine sand paper and turn with the sand side against the brushes to seat them. The brushe appear to seat. but the sand paper ill show up gaps. The magnets are held in with screws...But haven't got the loose as yet.
-
Yes the connected to the one brus holds it like that. I will remove the four (4) magnets and wash to check wiring and increase Ohms to ground readings taht were 10.44 Kohms .

How can I remove the tires from a 2014 Yamaha Rhino
jen replied to kingkw's topic in ATV Tires and Rims Forum
Had to change 'Granpa's' 4.00/4.8 x 8 in gravely tires. The tire would not come off. I beat on it for 3 hours! finally running out of cuss words (and Lent starts tomorrow) I cut the tires loose and used my propane smoke wrench. After burning out an area i could cut the wires at the inside diameter of the tire. Ok Ok I know I am going to get a lot of push back but I was desperate. -
Good Morning Chinese New Year! Goodbye year of the Snake. It's the year of the Fire Horse! My friend says a Fire Horse is a Stallion...LOL So guys take heart and get your spurs out and Bridle Ready. It's the year of the FIRE HORSE!

The brushes make strong contact as you ca see here when in relaxed position. I lightly sand papered the commutator and used a one inch eraser to polish. I probably need to flush the armature windinsgs with brake cleaner. I tested starter under load with a jumper / booster attached to bat. The voltage did not pull down. under load or when not under load. With n load starter spins full speed.. If I hold even lightly with pliers it will not rotate.

make plans now for warm weather in New River Gorge area.
-
I cleaned the commutator better using CRC contact cleaner. I used a cut off hack saw blade ti scrape between segments, Ohm redeadings between segments 0.1 ohms consistant between all segments. segment to ground (starter frame) 10.44 K ohms

My SR 500 Yamaha was old but low milage when I got him. Compression release start valve as He was kick start only. Good hanling. Did not go thru chains as he was not a "lam Bam Thanky Mamm" he was made for long performance. That was a popular bike in Europe, I still have him disassembled ...in a box.
-
Good morning Day after people! I helped decorate for the Church St Valetines dance. I Got voted the best helper!
-
Yes chains wear and need replaced However, when changed the Chain on my Yamaha thumper ..SR 500...I changed the sprockets also. That was a fun bike. I would lay out over the tank and stretch out on the seat when cruising it was like a massage .
-
But really, I hope he gets his "long Crank hard to start" problem fixed.
-
In guess if the line drained empty it could take a while ..pulses of the injector...to get all the air out and have fuel ubder pressure to the injector. Sunn is probably Randy celebrating Valentines Day innfront of his Fireplace on a bear skin rug....LOL could not resist that shade!

Frustrated but still game,, WeeBee...LOL
