  1. My Track’in Buddy and I went for another track ride this week. The weather has been kind of warm and after last week’s ride, we figured our track’in days may be numbered. Yes, the snow down around 7200 ft (2195 m) where we park is melting kind of fast, so we decided to check out the higher elevations, because once the lower elevation snow is gone from the trail / closed highway (which is the only way to get to the snow up high) we won’t be going up there until they open the road for vehicle travel. The temps even up where we rode have been in the 40 degs F (4c) but the day we rode it never got above 34 degs F (1c) and the snow was still melting. I will say however, the snow conditions were the best they have been for a couple years. It was just fabulous !! :partyc: We had so much fun and covered so much ground that we put 49 miles (79 km) on the bikes. That’s not the most I’ve put on in a day, but dang close. We put all four extra gallons (15 L) we carried in the bikes and still had a little over half a tank of fuel when we got back to the trucks too. I had what I considered a ton of great video footage, and didn’t really use much of it in this video and it still came out at 13 ½ minutes … so I hope it’s not too long of a video for some and I hope everyone enjoys it !! :seeyac: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLwE-zS8HqY]25 Feb 2014 A Fabulous Day On The Snow - YouTube[/ame] ...

  5. We had a storm go thru the area on the 3rd, Monday & Monday night, so on the 4th, Tuesday morning, I loaded up the Bad To The Bone Tracked Can-Am & went for a ride. WHAT A GREAT DAY !! :partyc: Started out with a temp of -5 degs F when I got to the parking lot. But then another storm came in while I was riding. It got cloudy, wind started howl’in, snow was fall’in & it warmed up a bit …. All the way to 12 degs F by the time I returned to the truck. The only negative of the day, when I stopped for lunch, someplace along the way, I had lost my soft cooler with my drinks … I’ve had that cooler for several years & I was a little upset. Oh well, time to get a new one I guess. This video is a little longer than I intended, and it still doesn’t show some of the awesome ride I had, so I hope you enjoy what I put together … [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72QAo-NyKDo]04 Feb 2014 A Snowy Day Ride - YouTube[/ame] ...

Only saw two other people & we helped pull one of them out of a snow bank. Better him than us !! :smilielol5c: We could use more snow, but the ride on this day was AWESOME !! :woot: I only used 7 of 22 of the video clips I had of the days ride, so there's still some great ride footage on the cutting room floor !! 11. Put a little video together using timelapse ... what a pain ... of installing the tracks on my Can-Am. I didn't include taking the front A-Arms guards off, the rear CV Boot protectors off, of me greasing the bike, fixing a loose front brake rotor, and swapping out the Elka's for my Can-Am HPG shocks for the winter. Anyway, hope you enjoy the video .... Now … if it would JUST SNOW !! [ame] [/ame]...

  18. Went for a ride yesterday to an area I haven’t been to in about 9 yrs. It’s the Raft River Mountain Range in the Sawtooth National Forest next to the Utah Idaho border. To get to the road / trail I rode, you have to go into Idaho for a ways, then west across about 20 miles of real good dirt road, which is still in Idaho, make a left heading south back into Utah and up into the mountains. After about 7 miles, I parked the truck, unloaded the bike and headed out for a GREAT DAY of RIDING !! :woot: From my home to where I parked the truck is about 120 miles (one way), so I left the house at 0530, stopped along the way for eggs and bacon … along with my morning “Fee” …. That’s “Coffee” guys & gals !! :coffee: The mountains actually poke out of the desert floor when viewed from an aerial view in Google Earth. It’s pretty dang flat on three sides of them. There are some connecting mountains on the West end but when you look North, South or East, it is amazing just how flat the valley floor is & how high in the sky you are. I must have seen about 100 Antelope on the way out there and once riding, I saw two big herds of deer. Only got a photo of one group that had split up … and they weren’t waiting around to see if I was just shooting photos of them or a rifle at them !! When I got back to the truck and loaded the bike I noticed a sheetrock screw in my tire. Luckily it was just into a tread block & not actually into the tire. (See Video Thumbnail) Hope you enjoy the video and make sure you change the video quality to 1080p for your best viewing enjoyment !! … :seeyac: NOTE: I also uploaded the video to Vimeo if you would like to watch it there too !! 21. Yup, my first snow ride of the 2013-2014 Winter Season ... Went for a ride yesterday to check out the snow conditions in our mountains. What a GREAT DAY !! It was just like winter, when I unloaded the bike, the temp was 10F (-12c) and at the end of ride it had really warmed up ... all the way to 17F (-8c) ... and there was about 15 to 20mph wind all day long. I will say thou, I didn't see one bug all day long, nor was it dusty !! :smilielol5c: I sure like these Pit Bull Growlers tires too. They really grip. :drivingc: There were a couple sledders that showed up just as I was pulling away from my truck & they returned to their truck about the same time I did. They said that had been trying to follow me, but it kept gett'in to rocky for them ... that made me chuckle !! :nopityc: Here's a short video of the ride, hope you enjoy it !! I will say, it looks so crystal clear on my computer, but Youtube really messes it up. Still, I hope you enjoy the video. :seeyac: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iys6gW7zdCQ]05 Nov 2013 First Snow Ride Of The Season - YouTube[/ame] ...
