  1. I know lots of ppl have snow plows- what's your favorite?
  2. Heres a few pics from 2weeks ago ! Temps were in the mid 50`s conditions were perfect !
  3. It's been foggy & smoggy in the valleys where I live, so I headed to the mountains to get some fresh air & play in the snow. The snow was awesome & the day was just Fabulous. I hope you enjoy the video. [ame] [/ame]...
  4. Here's my latest video. Went for a track ride after the big storm we had & what a blast !! Hope you enjoy the video ... and Merry Christmas !! [ame] [/ame]...
  5. Took a ride up into the local mountains to check out the snow conditions before the next series of storms come thru. :coolgleamAc: Had a GREAT DAY !! :ola: And if these next storms drop the amount of snow they are forecasting, the tracks will be going on ASAP !! :woot: Hope you enjoy the video ... :seeyac: [ame] [/ame]...
  6. We had a few days of rain & then a cold front came thru our area. The claimed we had snow in the mountains, so I went for a ride to see for myself ... and what did I find ?? ........... SNOW !! ......... Not a lot mind you, but it was fun. When I unloaded the bike the temps were 27 degs F (-2.7c) & warmed up all the way to 33 degs F (0.5c) ... for about an hour. The rest of the day the temps stayed at 31 degs F (-0.5c) ... and then the storm came in ........ WOO HOO !! I will say however, there was no dust or bugs !! I did see a few people as the muzzle loader deer hunt was on & I think I was the only one that saw a buck !! ... Saw a few other deer & then a family of Mooses ... a cow & calf & a nice bull !! I got as close as I dared, making sure there were at least a couple trees between him & I & took what photo's I could .... Here's a short video of the days ride, make sure you watch it in 1080p & I hope you enjoy it !! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adwkD9J1Dmw]01 Oct 2014 First Snow - YouTube[/ame] ...
  7. Sorry I didn't post this vid sooner, but it's taking forever for the forum web site to load (for me anyway) & I get frustrated pretty quick. I got a new Rigid SR2 6 inch LED Light bar in a DRIVING pattern I won in a photo contest and I FINALLY got it mounted. So, I wanted to go for a night ride to see if it made much difference when added to the Rigid SR-M's I have on the handlebars, which have a SPOT pattern & the Rigid Dually's in a FLOOD pattern. Here's a short video of a GREAT night ride I had. Man I like these lights !! [ame] [/ame]...
  8. What can I say ... it keeps snow'in (in the mountains) and the temps are above freezing, so the snow is a wet snow & it just keeps gett'in better & better !! [ame] [/ame]...
  9. My Track’in Buddy and I went for another track ride this week. The weather has been kind of warm and after last week’s ride, we figured our track’in days may be numbered. Yes, the snow down around 7200 ft (2195 m) where we park is melting kind of fast, so we decided to check out the higher elevations, because once the lower elevation snow is gone from the trail / closed highway (which is the only way to get to the snow up high) we won’t be going up there until they open the road for vehicle travel. The temps even up where we rode have been in the 40 degs F (4c) but the day we rode it never got above 34 degs F (1c) and the snow was still melting. I will say however, the snow conditions were the best they have been for a couple years. It was just fabulous !! :partyc: We had so much fun and covered so much ground that we put 49 miles (79 km) on the bikes. That’s not the most I’ve put on in a day, but dang close. We put all four extra gallons (15 L) we carried in the bikes and still had a little over half a tank of fuel when we got back to the trucks too. I had what I considered a ton of great video footage, and didn’t really use much of it in this video and it still came out at 13 ½ minutes … so I hope it’s not too long of a video for some and I hope everyone enjoys it !! :seeyac: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLwE-zS8HqY]25 Feb 2014 A Fabulous Day On The Snow - YouTube[/ame] ...
  10. Winter is upon is here in the North East. I'm in lower New York and snow will be here soon. This is the best time to take the quad out on the main roads as all you see is other riders, snow mobiles, plow trucks, some 4X4 trucks, and the occassional daredevils in their cars. How many of you guys ride in the snow (you can see I do by my pics)? What do you wear? What are you riding? Last winter I got my King Quad up to 72 mph in the snow on a main road....I love this beast!
  11. What a way to end 2013 ... A friend and I went out for another track ride, the snow conditions were GREAT !! :cheer: ... and we had a blast !! Only saw two other people & we helped pull one of them out of a snow bank. Better him than us !! :smilielol5c: We could use more snow, but the ride on this day was AWESOME !! :woot: I only used 7 of 22 of the video clips I had of the days ride, so there's still some great ride footage on the cutting room floor !! Hope you enjoy what clips or portions of them I did use ... and remember to change the video Quality to 1080p for the best viewing enjoyment !! :seeyac: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tr21nuBLfWA]30 Dec 2013 Rock Creek Ride - YouTube[/ame] ...

  13. Went up with a few of my bro`s and ripped up some snow ! wasn`t as much as I`d hoped for but frickin FUN !!! after a few pops !! Dinner Lobster shrimp burgers and some killer dogs !! What a sun !!
  14. Yup, my first snow ride of the 2013-2014 Winter Season ... Went for a ride yesterday to check out the snow conditions in our mountains. What a GREAT DAY !! It was just like winter, when I unloaded the bike, the temp was 10F (-12c) and at the end of ride it had really warmed up ... all the way to 17F (-8c) ... and there was about 15 to 20mph wind all day long. I will say thou, I didn't see one bug all day long, nor was it dusty !! :smilielol5c: I sure like these Pit Bull Growlers tires too. They really grip. :drivingc: There were a couple sledders that showed up just as I was pulling away from my truck & they returned to their truck about the same time I did. They said that had been trying to follow me, but it kept gett'in to rocky for them ... that made me chuckle !! :nopityc: Here's a short video of the ride, hope you enjoy it !! I will say, it looks so crystal clear on my computer, but Youtube really messes it up. Still, I hope you enjoy the video. :seeyac: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iys6gW7zdCQ]05 Nov 2013 First Snow Ride Of The Season - YouTube[/ame] ...
  15. I grew up riding motorcycles and three-wheelers. After 20 years away, I have now moved to the Rocky Mountains and have some amazing country to explore in my backyard. Add a snowplow onto a utility four wheeler (do they call them that?) and I have a great opportunity and excuse to buy a toy that I have wanted for years. Not to mention that my 5 year-old would lose his mind if Dad bought one of these and we started exploring the backroads/4wd roads that are all over my area. That said, I do not want to spend more than $5000+ for this and, so long as it can do some basic snow removal and run reliably, dont mind getting an older model. I have four questions: 1) I feel comfortable maintaining this, but would like an expert to look it over to find any big issues before I buy it. Should I take it to a dealer to have it checked out? This is complicated by my next question . . . 2) Any recommendations on how to bring it home? I do not yet have a truck, trailer or anything to get whatever I buy home. I expect that I will have to borrow/rent a truck, but once it is at my house I can just ride from my house to all of the places I want to go. 3) After pulling out what is available on Craigslist, I think I may want to limit who I talk to to just those that already have a snowplow. This is a must have, so is there anything I should look for? 4) Made it this far? If so, is there anything in the below list that I should definitely check out? I pulled this list from just the past two days of posts on Craigslist and am getting a bit overwhelmed as I have not shopped for one of these, well, ever. 2003 Yamaha Grizzly 660 4x4 w/ Warn Winch & New Tires 2002 Honda TRX 350 LOW HOURS 2008 Polaris 500 Deluxe EFI ATV ******2003 Kawaski Prairie 650 V TWIN***** 1998 honda atv 300 fourtrax (has snowplow!) 2006 Yamaha Kodiak 450 ATV 2007 Yamaha Grizzy 700 ATV 2003 polaris 500 sportsman with snow plow (2) 2013 Polaris Sportsman 500 Tourings 2003 Kawasaki Prairie 650 4X4 Utility ATV with Cargo Racks, 1075 miles And that is just for the past two days . . . so many to choose from, so Im a bit overwhelmed!!!
  16. Hello all, I am new here and this is my 1st post so please bear with me. I have a 400 kodiak 1996 model. I have a john deere snow plow for my mower a(4 ft. wide). I had someone tell me that it can be put on my atv but I am not sure how the heck you make it mount up under the frame. They told me they used there same mounting brackets that cam with the plow and went to (farm and home store in our area) and bought the brackets to mount underneath. I do not find these brackets. Anyone out there have any advice on how I can do this or where I can go to get some ideas with out spending an arm and a leg? thx for any and all help!!!

  18. Hey ya'll, I just got my Drift HD cam, and thought I would shoot a little video of the entrance to my trail system. I am still working on my skills, so the volume might be a little loud. Sorry 'bout that, hopefully I will improve. I need to get used to doing this because we are going to try filming our 2013 Baja 1000 race, "Dust to Glory" style.
  19. Hey ya'll, I just got back to yankee-land, and couldn't wait to get back to riding. I just thought I would put up a few pics to let you see what you are missing out on. Hopefully I can track down some people to ride with, so I can get some nice action shots soon.
  20. :partyc:Got some snow to play in, but before I could get to it, once again sleet and freezing rain. Well, I went ou to play in it anyway:ola: One thing led to another and I landed bad off of a jump.:brickwall: The Polaris ended up int the trees:no: and I ended up sleigh riding on my helmet.:wacko:Here is the helmet cam footage, hope you laugh as hard as I did. 21. My riding buddy and I decided to head up to the mountains to see all this new snow we were suppose to have received the last few days …. All seven inches of it. Seems the major part of the snow went south of us …… Anyway, it was great … the sun was out … it was good and cold … no bugs, no dust, & we only saw a few sledders ... and as you'll hear in the video, the wind was a blow'in !! I tried a video camera pole I made, it’s takes some OK video at some different angles … but on an ATV, that means you’re riding “One-Handed” … and I don’t think that’s a good thing. :nono: I put a camera on my buddies Polaris 850XP … when the vid switched to video off that camera, listen to how noisy his bike is. :wasntme: Here’s a short video of yesterdays Fun Times … Hope you enjoy it. :seeyac: ...
  22. Yeah, haven't been on here much in a while ... but I have been rid'in !! :woot: Went for a ride yesterday ... WHAT A GREAT DAY !! :partyc: ........ I also had some items I was testing out. I bought a new Garmin Montana 600 GPS & I'll still try'in to learn how use the dang thing. Some of the functions are way different than the 60CXs I had. For one thing, the 60 had an option where you could save your tracks to the SD card ... but as of yet, I have NOT been able to figure out how I can save anything to the SD card. The screen will also orientate to either landscape or portrait & you can set it so the screen "moves" as the GPS moves. (From either landscape to portrait while in your hand). Yesterday I'd be rid'in along & the dang screen would start rotating on it's own ... So I gotta look into that. Next, I wanted to run the Pit Bull Growlers in some snow ... which they did pretty well ... but the snow was such I was work'in the motor pretty hard ... I'll be putt'in the tracks on this week ... A guy has been making some speed correction Black Boxes for Can-Am's & wants me to test one out. So I did all the pre-test speed runs a week ago comparing what the speedometer reads compared to the GPS speed. Did the calculations & input the data into the Little Black Box and yesterday I compared the speedometer to the GPS to see how close my calculations came. I still have some math work to do, but I'm close. Where this Little Black Box is gonna shine however, is when I put the tracks on. The BRP DPS Track Module I bought (at twice the money as this Little Black Box) is designed for the Can-Am Apache tracks which have 18 inch sprockets. And the sprockets on my tracks, which came off my Grizzly, are 17 inches in dia. So once I get the math part done & input the data into the Little Black Box ... my speedometer and GPS should match speed wise. HOWEVER .... I've noticed, this is gonna be kinda tough to get it exact. The reason is, the GPS has tenths ... and when the bikes speedometer reads 30 mph, the GPS may read anywhere from 29.7 to 30.6 mph. And it's pretty difficult to get the GPS to hold one speed (constant) for very long. And last but not least, I bought a new helmet camera. The Drift GHOST HD. After one day of videoing, I'm still out if I should have spent this money. This GHOST camera is smaller, but uses different batteries than my other Drift cameras. So I had to buy two additional batteries. The batteries can only be charged while in the camera. The camera has a larger LCD screen (2 inch) which is nice. The wireless remote now has side lights so you know when it's on. When I first started trying to use the remote however, I was pretty ticked off cause I couldn't get the remote to work again to work once I turned the camera off at lunch time. After I got home & read the "Instructions" .... I found out you have to turn the remote on too !! Damn gadgets anyway ... It will record in 1080p (25 & 30fps), 960p (25, 30, 48 & 50fps), 720p (25, 30, 50, 60fps), & a WVGA (25, 30, 50, 60, 100, 120fps) ... but the WVGA is only 848X480 size, where the others are 1280X720 or 960 & 1920X1080. It will also take photo's (at 11mpxl max) & you take a photo while in record mode. Like that's ever gonna happen while riding !! I recorded this video in 720P and although I also did this with the other Drift cameras, on Youtube, they gave you the option to watch it in 1080p. So far however, the below video does NOT give me that option. So I may change my recording to 1080p. And I may need a better micro SD Card. ANYWAY .... here's a short vid from yesterday .... Hope you enjoy it !! :seeyac: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbHx6iPyngU]07 Dec 2012 - A Little Snow Ride - YouTube[/ame] ...
