2009 Outlander MAX - Gas in the oil

Guest

Recommended Posts

I just dug my Outlander out of The snowbank last weekend (yes we're just in the transition from Skidoo to ATV Season)

I did my spring once over and changed the oil a few days ago and noticed there was gas in it. In fact instead of 3L of used oil there was 4.5 L of liquid....

After driving for a few days (maybe only 10 - 20 km) I rechecked my oil and it smells like there is some gas in it again.

Any suggestions on where to begin my trouble shooting?

Thank you

Jeff

there is one way in for fuel from cylinders but it have to be very high mileage on the engine and u feel less torque

Are you referencing worn piston rings?

Jef_In_Arviat, do a compression test. You may be getting some blow by gases into the crank case.

The only way that I know fuel can get into the crankcase on an EFI machine is blow by. Worn rings, damaged cylinder wall, or a damaged piston will allow compression to leak by the piston and into the crankcase. In a machine as new as yours, this is not common, but still possible. Using the wrong oil, not changing the oil, not cleaning the air filter are all things that can speed up engine wear. If the machine has been neglected, things can wear down pretty quickly. I would start by doing as Ajmboy suggested, do a compression test.

Hi guys. I have a problem where the quad will start and run well for about 5 minutes and then it dies. On inspection the airbox has oil in it (quite a lot). The oil is pumping through the cylinder head breather hose. This problem first happened suddenly. I have since done the top end including, piston, gaskets, rings and valves. I have also done the carb (not that I thought that this was the problem). The compression seems normal. The only thing that I can think of, is that I did not grind the valves well enough. Anyone experienced this? If so, how did you fix it? Any other thoughts?

2022 Sector 550, 414 miles on it and the gas gauge reads empty.  I topped off the gas and it didn't change.
There is no fuse that I could find.  No access at the gauge cluster.
Wiring on the top of the tank looks good, properly connected.
Could the sending unit in the tank be stuck or broken?
Has anybody removed the tank lid?  Any tricks?
      Any other ideas?
      Thanks for any help,
      Clyde

      Hi everyone.
Let me explain the thread title.
My husband and I are very active in the nudist community, and we have stayed at many and most of the mainstream nudist and clothing optional campgrounds in the USA. We are now approaching our retirement and would like to start a podcast to share those off the road / backwoods / little known camping areas where nudity is allowed. We have purchased a 5th wheel camping trailer with a rear garage for the ATV and now need some good reports on the one to buy.
We are most interested in a side by side unit but would love to get your thoughts.
Feel free to stop by and say Hi and ask anything you would like to better understand what we are looking for in an offroad unit.
Thanks for reading and hope to hear from you.

Hello i have a 2005 Bombardier Outlander max xt 400, i recently split the case to fix a oil leak. while in there i took out the oil pump and i cant find the torque specs for the oil pump to go back in, i tend to over tighten everything so im trying to go be the torque specs so i dont break anything.

      Thank you in advance
