1993 polaris trailboss no power, runs rough, and smokes
Need help to start what i have done new piston and cylinder bored crank seal plugs carb kit (Had bad piston when bought atv) problem I have no power runs rough and smokes have 110 compression looks like good fire stator is in correct position just dont know how to tell if there is a carb issue any help?

Compression sounds right on. Does it run any different with choke on or off? Did you premix the first tank of gas? Smoking sounds like maybe too much oil (if its excessive). Also, what does the plug look like if you can keep it running for a few minutes.

What color is the smoke? What does it smell like? What does the spark plug look like. You could be leaking oil into the crankcase because of an improperly installed crank seal, or a leak between the case halves. Or you could be leaking water into the cylinder through the head gasket or cylinder base gasket. Make sure all your bolts and nuts are properly torqued. You could just be getting too much oil from the oil injection. Also, check your timing and flywheel key. Also, I'm not exactly sure what the compression should be, but 110 seems a little low for a fresh piston and bore, but it still shouldn't run poorly. Did you do the compression test when the motor was warm or cold?

when i put the choke on it kill the atv the plug is wet when i pull it out smoke is black also i use premix sames it what is use in my others andy ideas

Black smoke usually means you are running way too rich, the fact that you say it dies when you choke it, supports that idea. You may be jetted way too rich, or you may have a clogged air cleaner. Also, I am pretty sure that machine has an oil injection system for the 2-stroke mix. Unless that system has been properly bypassed, you should not be running a pre-mix, just add oil to the oil tank and gas to the gas tank.
