2007 Suzuki Vinson 5 spd auto rattling noise

I just purchased this machine as a brand new machine from a dealer as a left over, full warranty and 18 miles on it.

At an idle you can hear a rattling noise which is disturbing to a person who used to be an auto mechanic. I got out my stethoscope (pry bar up to my ear) and the sound appears to be coming from the rear part of the transmission where the clutch basket would be. I read somewhere else on the internet that its the bevel gear and its normal and I just want to make sure. My machine is still under warranty so I can take it back if needed but if anyone with a Vinson can verify that their machine is/was making the same noise I will feel better about it and may still take it to the shop for an inspection.

So far I am very happy with the machine, the handling is great, the power is more than what I need and its ability to go just about anywhere its wheels are pointed are all pluses for me. Last weekend I pulled out 2 swamped quads at the same time so it has some pulling power in low range. My only complaint so far was the rear brake squeaking which I have seemed to fix by disassembling the rear brake and applying anti-seize to the contact points on the caliper for the brake pads. If I had to complain about one more thing it would be the the gear ratio in reverse, its just not as low as I would like and it does not get lower even in low range.

Thanks for the quick reply. I think you offered the best suggestion.

I understand that the cluch basket is most likely a bevel cut gear which could cause a slapping against the Inner bearing mating surface at an idle, especially a rather large engine single cylinder at that...not the smoothest engine by any means or not like a vtwin.

From Arkansas. Just bought a 2012 Gator 850i RSX because I could not pass up the price. BUT it has an idle problem. So, to be honest, I joined just to get a service manual. I have a choice: 1)Buy a hard copy: ~$100; 2)Buy a CD ~$35.00; Get a direct download for free posting 10 times; or get a download for $29.00 (subscription). Haven't decided what to do yet.

Howdy y'all, I'm trying to fix a neighbors 2015 Brute Force 300. Came in with hard to start and won't idle except on choke issue. I pulled the carb and found the pilot jet as well as the emulsion tube partially clogged. Cleaned up everything, put it back together, still having issues...  It will start right up on choke and will also start off choke if you give it just a touch of throttle but it absolutely will not idle unless it's choked just a touch. Also, excuse my ignorance but I'm assuming the "dial" thingy attached to the carb that turns in and out is for setting idle??

I have been exploring all the options available, so many, its hard to choose. I have kind of narrowed it down to the Honda Pilot, Subaru Outback, and Kind of looking at the Outlander, although its a little small,  the new one is nice looking. Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations or gripes with any of these rides. I have driven Jeeps for the past 25  years and they have been great, but their price point has gotten to high. Expieriences good or bad would be helpful. Thanks!

This is something I'm extremely curious about. Has anyone ever attempted to buy a quad (or any other vehicle) from an impound lot? I've always wondered if this could be a bargain, or a waste of time. Google searches do turn up some helpful results. Looks like the state of NJ holds auctions online which I'd be a bit hesitant about.

My online searches haven't really turned up any results of anyone buying an ATV this way. I'd be really curious if anyone tried this, or knows someone who has. I've actually found a couple pages with online auctions for my state, but none had ATVs.
