if i was to bore this out what should i do ? and where should i buy the bore

There are alot of companies that make big bore kits for your machine, just do some research and figure out which one will give you what you want and fits your budget, keep in mind, you usually get what you pay for. Ebay will have several different kits. On that note, $25 or $30 is not that much to pay for a repair manual that can potentially save you hours of searching forums for answers or save you from making a fatal error and ending up with a blown motor. I don't get why so many people are looking for this free manual handout. If nobody wants to pay for them, they won't get printed anymore. I say just suck it up, pay the money and buy the darn book.

Now that is different, dealer mechanics are thieving bastards,:realmad::aargh: and IMO, not needed. Repair manuals allow those of us who are capable to do things ourselves, without relying on a mechanic.

I agree, that's why we're looking for service manuals. We are all looking to stretch our dollars as far as possible. So why would we pay for something, if we don't need to ?

Because $35 for a Clymer, or $80 for a factory manual is well worth the money, you have all the info that you need, without having to take it to a mechanic. Like I said, with this rash of people trying to get them for free, the good folks who print these manuals will either stop making them, or raise prices because everyone is looking for a handout. Then, those of us who don't mind paying for a product that is worth it's cost pay for everyone else's freeloading. If you can't fork out $35 for a book that can save you thousands of dollars in labor costs, how can you afford to buy the parts you need? BTW, JP, if you are going to take your motor apart, you will need a repair manual, unless you want to guess on all the wear tolerances, torque specs and sequences. You can destroy a motor by putting it together wrong. Using the manual for a 400EX is not going to give you accurate info for your LTZ, just because the motors are the same size doesn't mean anything. They are completely different.

As long as there are free services out there, people are going to take advantage of it. If you have a cross to bear, maybe you should take it up with the people who provide the free downloads. That's like saying we should all buy OEM parts for an overinflated price, when there are good quality aftermarket suppliers, who can sell us the same or better parts, for a fraction of the cost. Do the OEM's stop making a part availabile to Joe mechanic, just because an aftermarket supplier has come out with a better idea ? Compitition is what advances technology. If you have no problem throwing your money away, I couldn't care less. But don't try to push your opinions on the rest of us.

You are right, there is no stopping people from taking advantage of free stuff. I also agree that if you can find something that is just as good for cheaper, you should go for it. You are right, competition does breed advancement and better choices for the consumer. All of this, however does not support the idea of taking for free, something that is meant to be paid for. I do realize that some things are just a plain ripoff, and I would not fault someone for taking advandage of free stuff in certain situations, kind of a double standard, I know. But some things, like a service manual, are not a rip-off, they are well worth the money that the publisher asks for them. I don't want you to feel like I am trying to push an idea down your throat, I am simply arguing my case, debating if you will. Please don't take my words as disrespectful towards you guys. That is not how they are meant. If you find what you are looking for, and don't have to pay for it, more power to you. Just because I don't necessarily agree with it, doesn't make it wrong for you. This is a free country, that is what makes it so great, we aren't bound by law to see things the same way. I will add this though, I have paid for a PDF download manual to save money and time, and I hate it, I had to run into the house, print out a page or two to take with me when I needed something. I guess if I had it on a laptop that I could take out in the shop with me, it would not be so bad, but then I would be getting that all dirty. I have found that it is nice to have the actual book in front of me when I am working on stuff.

Hello everyone, I just picked up an 02 LT-F250F the other day and have been in the process of tearing it down to fix some stuff- one of which was the cylinder base gasket leaking like a sieve. Well, I know why that is now, and I also discovered that someone had been in there before. I didn't take pictures, but it looks like it was probably run low on oil at some point, the cam journals and the "bearings" (for lack of a better term) in the head and the valve cover are totally wiped out, very deep grooves.  From what I know it's very difficult to repair aluminum in this way, so I'm trying to figure out where to go next.

      1. Have someone grind down the head and valve cover and fit actual bearings in since the aluminum is screwed, and have the cam ground down to match.  I have no idea what this would cost.
      2. Buy a replacement head+cam+valve cover.

#1 I was hoping someone might have some advice on, but #2 seems like it'll (probably) be the more cost effective option.  However I'm running into some difficulty, it seems like the 2001 and 2002 models specifically use a different head part number,  11100-19B10, instead of  11100-19B01 like for all earlier models.  What exactly is the difference between them? There are obviously far more of the earlier heads because it ran for over 10 years.  Are they actually interchangeable? I've also noticed there are heads from the LT250EF that has 4 valve heads but also otherwise look identical.  Would those work as well possibly?  I'd like to not have to drop $500 on machine work or new heads on a $1300 quad that I'm already putting a bunch of new parts on.  Oh, and it has a new piston and the cylinder itself looks pretty good too, as I said someone was in here before me.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. I'll post pics of the carnage tomorrow.

This is something I'm extremely curious about. Has anyone ever attempted to buy a quad (or any other vehicle) from an impound lot? I've always wondered if this could be a bargain, or a waste of time. Google searches do turn up some helpful results. Looks like the state of NJ holds auctions online which I'd be a bit hesitant about.

My online searches haven't really turned up any results of anyone buying an ATV this way. I'd be really curious if anyone tried this, or knows someone who has. I've actually found a couple pages with online auctions for my state, but none had ATVs.

I am in the process of puting it back together after replacing the DPS gearbox.
The manual I have states that it will need to be flashed by a dealer. Is this still true?
Also , I have a mystery bolt That I cannot remember where it goes. M6x 70 or so.  Hex head with a flat washer.I will try to attach a pic.
Pic is no go for now....Cox issue I will try again later
      TIA

      Hi!
I got my KLF300 running again with your help a couple of months ago, at that time it was the ignition coil that had failed. It has been in use since then without issues until two weeks ago.
When the new issue showed I was going at about 10km/h and it suddenly slowed to a halt. I started it again after that with choke and I drove it 400 meters and parked. Next time it was really hard to start, and since it was low on gas I thought that was the problem. It didn't get any better with a full tank, so I assumed it was the cold weather, and adjusted the pilot slightly.
After that it I actually got it started again with full choke and some slight gas, I drove about 300 meters and then it slowed down to a halt again. After that, it hasn't started again.
The compression is 165psi. The spark has good intensity, the ATV has functioned before with the same spark "intensity"/light. I *assume* that it has gas as well, there is definitely gas on the spark plug when I remove it
I have checked the carburetor slightly, the float works, diaphragm looks ok, but I haven't disassembled it to really look for dust and such in all the small places.
My theory right now is that it might've been some dust in the gas tank that went into the system, it's just a theory
I'm thankful for all the help and pointers I can get, don't hesitate

      / Pär, Sweden
