Arctic Cat 2006 ATV 500. The battery is dead overnight. Recharges fine with 1 amp charger. I disconnected the negative cable from the battery and put a meter between that post and the cable with everything turned off. It read a 10 volt draw. I pulled each fuse one at a time. The power draw went to zero when I pulled the ACC fuse and no others. The engine starts and runs without the fuse but the display panel keeps starting to show then goes off briefly. The display works fine with the fuse in place.

What is the most likely culprit? How do I get to it? How do I fix it.

You need to measure how much current is being drawn by the battery. Set the meter to amps and do what you did to the battery wire. You need to find out how much current is being drawn. It is normal for the pod to use a very small amount to keep the clock going, but it will not draw down a battery overnight. The ACC fuse is for your accessories including the display of the pod. It is common for the winch control, hand warmers to be attached to the accessory circuit. There is usually a 2 prong connector under your steering column for these accessories. If you have a winch and/or handwarmers. Disconnect them and see if the current drops to almost nothing.

You could also have rubbed through wires near the steering post, but I would check the above first.

Thanks Mike. I checked the amps and it was minimal. I do not have a winch or hand warmer so that part was easy. I found a way to examine all the console wires and could not find any rub signs. A new battery is now in place and lasts at least 24 hours. I am sure you had the expert advise. Thanks Keith

Check your voltage regulator/rectifier. If it is bad it will drain your battery in about two days.

Thanks for the tip but I think it was a bad battery and maybe a wire next to the steering column. It now has sat 3 days and all is still good

(Too hot to ride)

Would the regulator be on the ACC fuse? I don't know.

Looking at the schematic, the output from the regulator / rectifier connects to a "red splice" in the harness which is a main hot wire lead. Although the ACC fuse is on that circuit as well, it also branches to the main 30amp fuse.

The only way to know if the regulator is sucking power off the battery is to disconnect it and see if that draw on the battery drops.

Have a 1998 AC 300 2x4, Just installed a new carburetor. Engine starts easy but the choke RPMs are very hi and take along time (5-10 mins when cold out). After engine has warmed up choke releases and it idles and runs fine., It does no have an electric choke. The choke lever is never used and it seems like an auto choke? Long story short, how can I lower the choke rpm levels?

Also, carb came with a spare145 jet, not 100% sure what is installed. Could this impact choke RPMs?

Any help and information greatly appreciated.

Hello everyone, I just picked up an 02 LT-F250F the other day and have been in the process of tearing it down to fix some stuff- one of which was the cylinder base gasket leaking like a sieve. Well, I know why that is now, and I also discovered that someone had been in there before. I didn't take pictures, but it looks like it was probably run low on oil at some point, the cam journals and the "bearings" (for lack of a better term) in the head and the valve cover are totally wiped out, very deep grooves.  From what I know it's very difficult to repair aluminum in this way, so I'm trying to figure out where to go next.

      1. Have someone grind down the head and valve cover and fit actual bearings in since the aluminum is screwed, and have the cam ground down to match.  I have no idea what this would cost.
      2. Buy a replacement head+cam+valve cover.

#1 I was hoping someone might have some advice on, but #2 seems like it'll (probably) be the more cost effective option.  However I'm running into some difficulty, it seems like the 2001 and 2002 models specifically use a different head part number,  11100-19B10, instead of  11100-19B01 like for all earlier models.  What exactly is the difference between them? There are obviously far more of the earlier heads because it ran for over 10 years.  Are they actually interchangeable? I've also noticed there are heads from the LT250EF that has 4 valve heads but also otherwise look identical.  Would those work as well possibly?  I'd like to not have to drop $500 on machine work or new heads on a $1300 quad that I'm already putting a bunch of new parts on.  Oh, and it has a new piston and the cylinder itself looks pretty good too, as I said someone was in here before me.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. I'll post pics of the carnage tomorrow.

I have a 2016 Arctic Cat 500 and recently noticed some oil leaking on the engine block to the right of the oil filter. It's near two metal lines going in and out of the engine block. I think one of the lines is called an engine oil line. I have a photo I'm going to try and attach. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to start tearing into the engine if I don't have to. I think maybe a gasket or something blew around one of these lines. The ATV runs fine otherwise. Doesn't overheat or anything.

Hello, what is the best method for installing bearings into their race? I've set one in place and tapped it down until it was metal on metal. Is that sufficient? Surely it's not supposed to go into the race until flush? Also. does the coil spring on the seal go into carrier bearing housing not facing out? Thanks! 🙂 Seal goes in until flush correct?

It starts and runs Ok but after a while the temp gage lights up and the fan fails to start.  Any suggestions on where to start looking would be helpful.  Thanks
