as far as I can find, black began in 2006 for both, but for 2008 only the 400ex comes in black....the 08 400ex model's pretty sweet w/the black and red.

I think the black/red 07 model looked better only because the red frame.

I know this is a little old but if you looking to find something in that color and cant find it...you can always just buy new plastics in the color you want.
