Hey,

Looking for some advice regarding rear diff issue.

I have lost all drive power to the rear wheels from the diff. I have drained the diff oil and have not really found anything to scary apart from the colour of the oil....  Ive jacked the bike up.  Then I took the side cover off the transfer case to confirm drive shaft is all ok. And spins when put in gear etc. Then check the rear diff oil filler where you can see the crown wheel (final gear) that was spinning all ok.

My guess the spline how stripped on something either final drive or the main axle. Main question is how do I tell if the final drive splines are stripped?

Also during the process I managed to bugger the diff oil filler bolt plug thingee! Any ideas where I can get one? I’m in New Zealand if that helps.

cheers

I think you would visibly see if there was gear damage. Are there any metal shavings in the oil? Check out this topic:

Have you done a spline inspection? Check out this video:

No drain the oil no steel seen. Made a start yesterday pull the shaft out. Hopefully by the weekend I will know more. I’ve tracked down a second hand one. Hopefully that all that is buggered. Any idea on how to flash all the old oil out of the diff. I’m not really wanting to strip it down? Cheers

I had the splines go out on my 450S, I ended up replacing the main drive shaft and the main drive gear.  I could tell it was out by jacking up the back end then putting it in 1st gear and rotating the rear tires, I could spin them with out too much effort.  It wasn't too bad of a repair job.

Sorry for the delay. It’s all fixed now. I purchased a second hand main shaft and replaced it my self. Easy job  apart from the seized castlated nut on the left hand side. Ended up having to grind it off!

Flashed diff oil several times. All good.

Bikes for sell now since been replaced with Honda foreman 500!

Hi all. I have a timberwolf 250 2nd that will not start.. I thought it was out of time bc the guy I got it from said it just quit on him. The tensioner had a nut welded to it and it was like2 teeth off. I installed new tensioner and chain and it still will not start. It has fire and it will not hit off brake cleaner. It has compression. Haven't put a gauge but I'm sure it will crank and run with what it has. I double checked my work and it's still in time. Spot on. Both valves move. I'm about to put a feeler gauge on them and I'll cone back but other than that any ideas?

I've been hunting for a rebuild kit or aftermarket replacement without success. Any tips? The OEM replacement is too rich for my blood.

on my honda trx 500 we have no power to the ignition switch for starting or ignition
we have lights and horn working
      all fuses are fine
have traced through the harness and cant find any broken wires or bad connections
from what we have gathered so far the pgm fi unit is not sending any power to the fuel pump relay to power everything up.
if we put power direct to the ignition switch plug then everything works but wth the key in the off position.
does this sound like a faulty pgm fi unit?

I am hooking up a speaker on the rear of bike and want to use a factory auxiliary switched plug and not have to cut into the factory wiring or add another switch. I have read a bunch of posts that say there should be an auxiliary 12V connector in the front and one in the rear. I found the one in the front when I hooked up my winch but cannot find any in the rear. I have seen some pictures showing one on the right side attached to the down tube behind the side cover, but there is nothing on my 2024. Can anyone confirm that there is a auxiliary 12V connector in the rear on the 2024 700 Xmr? If so, can you please tell me where it is (with a picture if possible)?
