1985 Suzuki Quadrunner Replacement Screw

Frisbie6

Recommended Posts

I hope someone can help me with this.  I recently finished cleaning up an old barn find Quadrunner 230 Shaft drive.  The only thing I lost during the process was the screw that holds the airbox cover in place.  The suzuki part number seems to be 02142-0516A.

Naturally I would rather pick one up locally, but I can't find a description of what size the screw is.  I have tries everything in my bin of leftover screws, and nothing fits.

So the question is, does anyone know what size this screw is, or can anyone tell me how to find out?  I have searched google for cross reference and come up empty.

Thanks for any help!

What kind of screw ? Phillips , flat ?

100% metric. About how long is the screw ?

And lastly any hardware store has metric screws and bolts so no worries. You can take another screw off the bike that fits that and use it at the store for reference. Or just buy a few different sizes that are close. One of them will fit.   Post a pic if you can of the area where the screw goes.

Thanks Frank.  I think I will buy a few different metric sizes and see which one fits.  There is nothing below this spot, so too long won't be a problem.  I coudn't find any other screws the same size so you idea is probably shortest route.

This is the last thing before I can take it out and start riding.  I started it up yesterday and it runs great.  I can't wait to finally be a quad rider!

      Hey I have a 1997 big bear 350 4x4
I replaced the shifter shaft and the shift arm linkage and the rod when I installed them all I was unaware that you had to line the dot on the shifter shaft with the gap on the linkage arm gap put it all back  together and rode it I can't get it to shift in the right gears  I can move the shift cam by hand and goes in different gears but with the shifter shaft in it riding I can't put it in R or N
Anyone know how to line up the shifter shaft and the shift cam s

Hi guys. I have a problem where the quad will start and run well for about 5 minutes and then it dies. On inspection the airbox has oil in it (quite a lot). The oil is pumping through the cylinder head breather hose. This problem first happened suddenly. I have since done the top end including, piston, gaskets, rings and valves. I have also done the carb (not that I thought that this was the problem). The compression seems normal. The only thing that I can think of, is that I did not grind the valves well enough. Anyone experienced this? If so, how did you fix it? Any other thoughts?

I cant seem to find what this part is called. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I must be misinterpereting the parts catalog or something? I dont see it in the rear axle section. I think it may be in the rear brake assembly section? click link to view picture.

I have a 1988 Quadrunner 250 2wd. My brother in law sold it to my son for $20...had been sitting outside for several years. Got it home and had it running in about 30 mins. Ran it a bit and then went to looking at the carb as it was having trouble idling. Was getting it pretty close, then started losing spark...Also, it wouldn't start up every time...only about 1 in 5 tries. Anyway...now, it has what I can only describe as "intermittent" spark. I can get 1 light spark right when the start button is pressed and sometimes one when it's released...but none while cranking. 🤷‍♂️

I have replaced the spark plug, ignition coil/wire, and traced wires best I can. I noticed a couple frayed wires at the pickup coil where it enters the case. So, now I have the cover off, stator and pickup coil out and trying to test the coil. I do have about 114 ohms resistance for pickup best I can tell. And I can read minute voltage when I drag a magnet across it. Could it still be bad? Can a bad ignition switch/button cause this? (I did have the switch off to oil the choke cable)...pulling rope makes no difference though...any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated!!! It's the intermittent part that's throwing me off!
