I've used your tongue wt calculation method before kind of a fulcrum method.  I know a lot of people have no clue on that method.  You have many talents.

Might be a little too heavy?  My comfort zone on my F150 hitch is less than 500 lbs, but not sure of ratings with the Toyota hitch system.

Last year I hauled two motorcycles out of Arkansas in a 12' enclosed trailer and calculated the tongue wt at 375   lbs.

As I move the Sand Rail back with rear wheels (VW motor and trany are behind the axle of course) i can vary the tongue weight.  The metod was claas 2 lever --wheel barrow)  fulcrum at one end  tongue in mid and scale  at other end.

Here is my homemade wheel Bonnets.  A friend gave me a bunch of old snow chain cross chains.  3/16 in steel cable for side straps.  I  crimped on 1/2 CU tubing to keep chains from sliding along steel cable.  working on best tightening system now.   The tire shown is a 15 inch on my sand rail.  Should easily fit my SXS tires also.

BTW...for tender sufaces that you don't want marred i have soft nylon motorcycle tie downs.  They are rated in Lbs  ,600 lbs i think, and have a sewn loop so it can quickly be looped around something and be secure.  the p-other end has just a straight loop. Herewith is a picture of a 12 inch strap.

I treated My 2 x 6 PT trailer boards with used  motor oil.  Now I cannot find a abrasicve sand type paint that i can use to improve traction when i am loading vehicles on trailer.  My sand rail is the worse and wants to spin sidways on the slipery boards.

Iguess I could install expanded metal  but was hoping for a paint traction surface.  Any ideas..

I use "soft Straps" to tie down the wheel tension straps shown.  The soft straps are very versatile and will not scuff paint and damage tender surfaces.

The straps have sewn in loops at one end to ease strap pressure on frame members.

I bought the trailer in a pinch to haul stuff for Grandma. Up in Ohio  at a Tractor supply..  I do not like single tongue trailers I like  triangular braced braced tongues. Otherwise it has been good ..second set of tires, repacked bearings     thousands of miles on it

Yes I agree with your concept of triangular braced tongue, as I welded onto my 5 x 8 light duty homemade trailer as shown.  I also added a light duty battery operated winch to load any stubborn materials.  (Remove spare tire to access the cable opening,).  The winch has wireless control for actually sitting on the atv or motorcycle while it is being winched into the trailer.  As with your trailer this is the perfect size for atv moving as well as general purpose.

I have another 6 x 12 single axle 3500 lb open top trailer that I use for heavier equipment.

Yes, the angles do improve tongue stability.  I used 1" x 2" steel tubing, not sure of the gauge.  I'm sure there are professional welders in our group who would offer advice.

the winch was an inexpensive $79 Harbor Freight but I really like the wired/wireless feature.

Box tubing 1 x 2 nice if you can miter the ends good.  That would probably  be a chalene for me...LOL   But I can cut the 2 x 3 x 3/16 angle easily..Plus I have that.

Use winch to anchor front.   No pull down tension so ATV suspension is still functioning as it is on trailer. rear wheels strapped to hold ATV down and forward.   also a rear anchor so atv could not go forward in a hard stop.

Saying goodbye to my little coupe.  don't get to drive him much lately

Good use of winch as front anchor, I do the same with some tension.  Your new Honda is really a robust machine.  I'm very impressed with the reliability of Honda ATV's.

In order to Haul both my Viking SXS and the Forman I can use a 16 ft open trailer as both machines will have their wheels on the trailer.  The bodies will hang over as the Viking is 10' 2" (1,448 lbs )  and Foreman 6 ' 2" (635 lbs).   My single axle trailer is 16 fppt but heavy made of 2 x 6 box tubing with a 5300 lb Dexter axle.   He has electric brakes however i don't feel comfortable towing with my Highlander (Rated at 5,000 lbs towing ).

So  i only tow the 16 ft trailer with my Tundra.  Considering an aluminum 16 ft car hauler tandem axle (w brakes of course)  curb wt 1400 lbs so I could pull with my Hoghlander.   ?????

Water proofing replacement trailer lights.  I sealed the wiring hole  in the new lights with "Solarez"  epoxy.  It is a one part epoxy.   It only needs to be exposed to direct sunlight to activate for two (2) minutes to harden.  Also I have had this tube and used it several times over last year or so and is remains good when stored for long time.

New replacement trailer lights came with a Center Brake light.  That's nice  the more who can see my little tail end the better.

However following instructions with kit the center light comes on with Brakes very bright,  lower illumination with running kights. However, the center light comes on also with the RIGHT turn light and does not come on with left turn..

Any solution to have it :

A. Only come on with braking

Or

B. Come on with left  and right turn lights

The instruction show connecting the "bright" center brke light to the Right "bright " brake light,  S yes it will blink with the Right turn light as wellas when Brakes are applied.

I have electric brakes (7pin connector) so i could wire it to the brake circuit...Duh never thought about that...

I was looking to buy a new ATV.
I was debating between Polaris sportsman 450 and Honda rancher.
      Polaris it a bit cheaper.
But can you tell me which one will have more demand on the used market? Which one will keep it's value better?

Let's say 3-5 years from now.

I am trying to diagnose a no spark issue with my 02 Big Bear 400 and I am really hoping it is not a CDI.  I have done the test on the stator and I believe that is faulty.  I ordered a new aftermarket one from a the jungle website and it tested bad right out of the box so I am waiting for a different one to arrive from an ATV parts supplier.  I started looking out of curiosity at CDI units and it seems if it is for a big bear you are SOL.  Kodiaks, no problem.  Big Bear. No such luck.

I suspect this bike may have a bad speed limiter. The part number for is 4060204. I found this one on ebay but it has a part number that is 1 number different. (4060203). It has the same LR44-2 and says its for a 94 Magnum 425. Will this one work on my machine or do I absolutely have to have the 4060204? Your advice would be appreciated. Thank you

I picked up this ATV that had no spark. The previous owner said he was driving it and it died and would not start. He discovered it had no spark. He replaced the CDI and the coil with no luck. He got tired of it and I bought it. I replaced the stater and now it has strong spark. Now, it starts for a second or two then dies. It will not stay running. I have checked the timing and it is spot on. The valves are adjusted correctly. I see no warn issues with the cam. I put the original CDI and coil back on it. Same problem exists. Compression is at 65 psi (has decompression mechanism),
I took off the muffler in case the issue was clogged pipes. No change. I replaced the spark plug. No change. The carb was an aftermarket so I put a Niche carb on with no change. I bypassed the fuel pump and that did nothing to solve the problem.
I don't know if this is a carb issue or an ignition issue. I am looking around locally for an OEM carb to try out but not sure that will fix the problem.
Can anyone help me solve this problem. I am running out of ideas.
      Thank you for your time
      Bill
