Big thanks to Frank Angerano for all the help he's provided. Plastics were super sun faded and decided to paint them.

Upon Frank's recommendations, i used minwax poly to clearcoat after the painting. Turned out good, and is a very close match.

looks pretty dang good.  does panting the plastics work long term tho?  ive heard (and seen) that painting isnt the answer for plastic and that it flakes off after the first summer of sitting in the sun.  is there a way to do it to avoid this?

Not sure, this is the first time I've done this. I did 3 coats of paint and 3 coats of minwax polyurethane upon Frank's recommendation.

He has used just poly on another project that turned out great. I thought mine were just too sun faded for just the clear.

This machine must've lived outside for a long time. Every damn bolt/screw was rusted in place and the plastic under the seat disengaged and broke apart when I tried installing it.

Just miniwax quick drying poly in a aerosol can. I used satin.

This beartracker was a nightmare for weeks. Nothing electrical worked, brakes were all locked up and reverse linkage was also frozen. Many, many hours on this thing.

With enough sanding of the plastics, i like to water sand so no dust.
You take off enough layers to get back to the original color.  Its just a matter of how deep you can or want to  go.

okay makes sense.

First post here need some help/advice. I bought a 2001 king quad 300, vin number JSAAK43A212111871. I have been trying to do some basic maintenance as it runs but doesn't idle all that well . I want to take out and clean/repair the  carb but when looking for parts it ask for model X Y K1 K2. How do I know which model I have? I have tried some vin decoders but they haven't told me. If anyone could recommend a carb rebuild kit for my quad Id appreciate it. Also any tips on tracking down an owners manual?

I have just recently gotten a yamaha big bear 350 atv and I think the carburetor is a little off on its setting,bc it cuts out at full throttle and it makes a weird pluff kinda sound 3-4 seconds after I hit the kill switch to shut the atv off. I don't know why it's doing that so any help will be greatly appreciated.

Recently picked up a 1991 Lt230e for repair. Compression is a little low Id say, around 80psi, I also have spark but the spark is odd . When cranking the spark is a constant arc. I’ve got it to sputter but never fully turn on. I believe the spark is my issue, being constant and not detonating at the right time. I’m not sure whether this issue is an electrical fault like some missing ground, a faulty cdi, or a timing issue. Any ideas where I should start?

Troubleshooting a no spark issue, was running OK, maybe a little rich, turned it off, now no spark. I've checked/ohmed out the main key switch, the start/stop switch, neutral switch, brake switch - all good. It will crank the starter, but no spark with the starter or when I try the pull start. I've checked all fuses and diodes. Swapped battery. New plug. New coil. Swapped in a used CDI - no help. Traced, removed, cleaned, reattached all grounds. Removed things like my winch from the circuits to be sure a bad relay or something was dragging it down. When testing voltages, the orange wire going from the CDI to the ignition coil shows no/very low voltage-shouldn't it have 12V on it? Sometimes I get a very weak, intermittent glow on my spark tester, but not enough to fire the plug. I've checked continuity on just about all wires in the harness. Checked/cleaned/lubed w dielectric grease- all connections, redid a few that looked old/dirty. I've checked the stator resistances, all good, but have a stator and rectifier ordered anyway, will arrive Sunday. I verified that the rectifier has a voltage output back to charge the battery while cranking - 10.5-11V, low, but expected while starter is engaged. What else can I check as part of troubleshooting? I have a Haines service manual, but the 1999 350 4x4 seems to be an odd model, there isn't an exact electrical diagram for it, but found one for another year that has all the same number of wires and same color wires, so I've referenced that. Any hints, tips or advice would be appreciated! Thanks!
