hey again!

my buddy was going to buy an atv and found a blaster.

not sure what year but its only kick start.

it has no compression so we will be working on it too!

so when were done both of us will have quads!

this project isnt so much making faster as it is just getting it going!

ill post pics of it soon..

its pretty nice..we are going to check the vin for years later this week.

he hasnt got it yet. but he got it for 500$!

its in nice shape body wise. no cracks in the plastic and everything.

lets hear some input on this one!

ok i dont knwo much about this but the kick start is like not having any like resistance.

you can push it down with like two fingers.

the piston is moving but it has no compression.

you think thats all thats wrong bot?

Your rings are shot. The rings are not springing outward, when this happens there is no way for it to make a complete seal. Buy a top end rebuild kit, take the cylinder to a machine shop and they will clean it up or resleave it. What ever needs to be done. Put it back together. It is that easy on my dirt bike anyways. Make sure the kit comes with rings and all the gaskets. The one for the CR500 cost $149.00 That would be my first guess. If anyone else has any other ideas, please step in!

thanx bot! your always a help!

btw this project will continue after repaired.

my buddy wants to hop it up a little too.

i told him toomey B1 kit

good choice?

i put a top in on a blaster about two years ago and had 80 bucks into.. a few hours and was breaking it in... and all blasters are kick start.... very easy to work on... if your not sure on what you are doing or its your first time going into the motor i would recommend that you get the service manual.. it will show you everything you need to know in detail... good luck man...

if you have and mech skills you can do it yourself.. it is very easy.. get the service manual and go at it.. just take your time and do things right.. you can buy the parts 5 times over for what they will charge you.. unless you take it to a ma and pa type place.. you know any back yard mechs that may be able to help you out...

Is there a decompressor on that engine?I've seen several on 4 strokes but I'm unfamiliar with the 2 strokes.I would think that if there is a decompressor on it and it was froze/broken spring/out of time that could contribute to the easy movement of the kickstarter.I found a site that has oem and generic(Clymer and Haynes)service manuals called Repair Manual Catalog Online - RepairManual.com I got an oem manual for my DVX for about $30 shipped in about a week and a half.Good luck

I am unable to find a wiring diagram for this UTV.  When I turn the switch to on, the contractor does not engage.  The Brake pressure switch and the parking brake switches work correctly. What else should I be looking for?  All of the diagrams I have found are for newer models and the wire color coding is different.

      Thanks

Heres my story. Kinda long. I guess I was a late bloomer when it comes to quads. I had never ridden a quad in my life. Rode Dirt Bikes as a kid growing up. Back in Oct of '06 I found a Mustang on craigslist. Took it for a test drive one morning before work. Fast car. 351 Cleveland. I had planned on meeting the guy again after work. For some strange reason thats still to this day beyond me, I stopped in Hillsboro MotoSports on the way home from work. I had 6 Grand on me. There was a left over '05 sitting by the front door. It was on sale for $4999. It was $5499 OTD. I didnt even look at anything else. I knew nothing about quads accept I thought it really looked coool and I had the money in my pocket to buy it. I was sitting on it when the salesman walked up and asked... "Can I help you?" Without hestitation I pulled 60 Ben Franklins outta my front pocket and said "I want this Quad. Load it up in my truck." It was just about dark by the time I drove away from the shop. BTW, I didnt bother to ask my ol lady if I could buy it. LOL. Anyway, I took it by the house and showed her. She was kinda stunned but not mad. We drove over to a friend of mines house and unloaded it. I took it to the field across the street from his house. HOLY CHIT!!!!! I was surprised by the power. I had it for about 2 weeks and took it to Sand Lake. I was there a few hours and rolled it on a banked turn at the top of the bowl right before you get to the one-ways. When it rolled, I flew off and landed on my belly. The quad came bouncing and landed on my back. For a month I couldnt even walk. I was scared of it. I considered trading it for a 250EX. Went back to the shop. The salesman said..."Dude!!! You dont want a 250EX!!! Trust me. Just get used to it" I still wasnt convinced. I put it on craigslist for $4000. Calls were coming in. I had a guy that wanted to come look at it that evening. I decided to take it for one last ride at Browns Camp before I sold it. I was still afraid of it. After about 5 minutes I started feeling comfortable on it again. I decided right then, I loved my Honda 450 and would learn how to ride it instead of selling it. That was late Nov of '06. Work was slow for a Painter in Oregon. My new job everyday? Going to Browns Camp and ridding my Quad. I bought my Girl Friend an '02 Blaster. I rode my 450 for 4-6 hours almost every single day for 3 months. And yes, I know my way around Browns Camp pretty well. LOL. In March I bought her an '06 TRX250EX (Thank God I didnt trade my 450 for one of those) LOL Since then, I have become totally addicted to quads. I love them. Couldnt imagine not owning at least one quad. Luckily I have two. My "07 was $6500 OTD in July of '07. Bought it for my Girlfriend. Traded in her 250 EX. A month later we broke up. So, I wound up with two Honda 450's.

Just getting into this issue really. Been replacing solenoids but now I'd like to track down the problem. This time I'm not getting neutral/reverse lights or start button. Was on a creek ride when it started doing this recently. It cranks by arcing the solenoid and gives me no light or start button but if I crank with the pull cord....the neutral light and the button work. Turn it off and try to crank with the key and nothing. I'm looking into the safety switch issue tomorrow and re charging the battery. Just figured this was odd enough of a problem that you guys might be familiar. Thanks
