2004 Can Am Bombardier 650 No Start

I have fought with this thing to no end. I cannot get my 4 wheeler to start. The battery is good on it. I took the kill switch assembly apart and cleaned all the contacts with contact cleaner. After that I finally got it to start. Worked fine for 3 days in a row it started every time I went out there. Then bam, today it did the same thing. It acts like it's completely dead. I can jump the solenoid and it will try to turn over, but won't. It's almost like the kill switch is stuck in kill mode. I'm at a loss. Please help.

Have you rechecked the switch contacts ? The contact cleaner might have left them too clean and they might have got corrosion .

You said jumping the solenoid it will try to turn over but doesn't.

Can you put jumper cables right on the starter and see if it turns over?

If it does then you have a battery, wiring, or cable issue.

If not, then you have a starter or internal damage issue.

I didn't know you could connect the cables straight to the starter lol. I wouldn't even know where to hook em up at honestly.

if you are jumping the solenoid and it is just barely turning over, that sounds like the starter or battery, because you are bypassing everything else, sending 12 volts directly to starter

So, is this a no crank problem, or a cranking but no start problem ?

And if cleaning the switch contacts the other day gave a temporary cure, why haven't you recleaned the contacts ?

I think I've got the problem figured out. It's gotta be a bad switch assembly. I cleaned all the connections again, and got it to fire up. But I can sometimes start it with the kill switch in either position, and I can sometimes kill it by turning the light switch on or off lol.

Good, you got it figured out , sometimes those switches can be troublesome.

And contact cleaner really isn't enough.. You should very carefully pull the switch apart, making sure the tiny springs and ball bearings in there don't get lost, (do it over a catch tray), and give the contacts a good rub with something like a steel wool or scotchbrite..
