well guys, i think i got a new toy.:yes: its a yamaha blaster (i dont konw the year) but, it is completly rebuilt, new tires, new rims, tons of xtras and its selling for 850 bucks. i thikn this is a totaly awsome deal considering he must have put at least 1 grand into it with all the mods. sorry no pics, lookin at it next weekend. i cant wait cause i have 300 bucks on hand and im sure my dad can kick in 500 bucks for a total of at least 800 and i dont like asking price so this might be an addition to my garage of toys:yes:. i just cant wait until next saturday:aargh:.

I would be weary about a quad for 800 bucks. Check for caked on oil around the gaskets. Look for cracks in the frame. Etc.

it was recently redone, he just needs it gone, taking up too much room, no one is gunna ride it in his family etc...

My warrior was supposably "redone" when we bought it......carb and such.....yeah he redid it alright....and screwed it all up tryin to play mechanic. My pilot jet is broken, and i need a new carb eventually here.

He also forgot to mention he had an allergy to grease....the swingarm was crack ed in half, and the thing was rusting from the inside out. We bought it ...it was dark when we were lookin it over, but we knew we were gonna put money into it ne way, just didnt realize how much stuff we needed to fix. But now its like brand new.....

Really take a good look at everything, make sure it has been takin care of, greased, and see how it runs. Check for cracks in the frame and the swingarm. I learned a huge lesson on my buy, so ill be a lil more observant next time. And when u get it home if you buy it, the first thing u should do is regrease everything especially the swingarm bolt. ( we had to cut mine off and buy a new one) lol!!! Good luck i hope its a good buy for ya :yes:

Test ride it. Shift up and down through each gear. Look for any wet looking oil on the side of the case where gaskets are. You said they just rebuilt it, so there will probably be dried/burnt oil on the case. Check for oil at the end of the exhaust pipe, this is a sign of blow by. Check the frame for cracks or rusty spot. Look at the welds on the a-arm mounts, check the swing arm for cracks and rust. Pay close attention to the frame near the foot pegs. If they jumped alot, good chance they weakened the structural integrity of the frame.

Anything I missed?

ooo that sucks ur gonna have a lot of trouble waiting for it hours will seem like months....so wats going to happen to ur SunL????

i had too do that on mine during the rebuild, for my swingarm at least, it took forever!:aargh:

one thing i have learned is to not do business with family friends or relatives.. the reason i say this is if u sell it for lets say 800-900 and something really big goes wrong with it and costs them a lot more to fix and they might get into a big fuss with u that u ripped them off.. now im not saying this will happen but i have experienced this with my can-am and i could buy 2 of them with wat i spent on shop bills (thats its own story).... im just giving my opinion but this is your atv and i have no say in wat u do in ur personal matters but i dont want u to go through wat i have been... well anyway congrats on the new atv hope u enjoy it take a lo of pics.

      Hi, I have been around everything with a motor since I was little, and finally purchased more to get my husband, and kids involved. I have 4 quads I will be searching around for information on. I have two 2002 Suzuki LT80K quads, a 1997 Yamaha Timberwolf 250, and a 1996 Kawasaki Bayou 220. I have had different ones throughout the years, and plan on buying another Yamaha Banshee. I plan on trying to learn more about all of them, so I can customize some of them. I know nothing about them besides how to race them, my dad always took care of the rest, but figured it was time for me to learn.

      1999 Yamaha Big Bear 350 4x4 no spark

      Troubleshooting a no spark issue, was running OK, maybe a little rich, turned it off, now no spark. I've checked/ohmed out the main key switch, the start/stop switch, neutral switch, brake switch - all good. It will crank the starter, but no spark with the starter or when I try the pull start. I've checked all fuses and diodes. Swapped battery. New plug. New coil. Swapped in a used CDI - no help. Traced, removed, cleaned, reattached all grounds. Removed things like my winch from the circuits to be sure a bad relay or something was dragging it down. When testing voltages, the orange wire going from the CDI to the ignition coil shows no/very low voltage-shouldn't it have 12V on it? Sometimes I get a very weak, intermittent glow on my spark tester, but not enough to fire the plug. I've checked continuity on just about all wires in the harness. Checked/cleaned/lubed w dielectric grease- all connections, redid a few that looked old/dirty. I've checked the stator resistances, all good, but have a stator and rectifier ordered anyway, will arrive Sunday. I verified that the rectifier has a voltage output back to charge the battery while cranking - 10.5-11V, low, but expected while starter is engaged. What else can I check as part of troubleshooting? I have a Haines service manual, but the 1999 350 4x4 seems to be an odd model, there isn't an exact electrical diagram for it, but found one for another year that has all the same number of wires and same color wires, so I've referenced that. Any hints, tips or advice would be appreciated! Thanks!
