ATV Plows? Good or Bad?

Its a refrigerator that looks like a cooler but it runs on 12/24 volts. Usually includes a power brick to run it off 120 volts.  The one shown here is a small one. It uses a compressor and can even be set as a freezer if needed. This small one is the one I usually keep in the shed on a shelf in the summer to have cold drinks handy when I am working on something. (the shed is like my workshop and where I maintain the quads) Right now I have it powered up because I am going on a trip for a few days and want a few cold ones in the hotel room.  

These are very power efficient. I have a larger one I take camping and run it off the battery. Uses 3amps when running (at 12 volts) and they are very quiet. 

I also have a dual-zone one so I can use the small compartment as a freezer for ice packs when we quad ride in the summer to keep the drinks cold during the day.

Oh! I have on of those bought it for trips many years ago, mine never kept drinks very cold but better than nothing. I would usually just put some ice in there, i like really cold drinks, just below freezing. Hopefully they have improved them over the past 25 years.

Hmmmm...I have the elctronic  type. it draws like 5 amps.  The compressor type ( i do not have yet buying one fro Grandma's Christmas)  will freeze .

Ahhhh! Mike has perfected the finer things of roughing it!   The one Mike has that freezes is nice. In the evening  I like my  Pinch on the rocks.  That's Pinch Scotch Whiskey! I am not into Johnnie Walker.

My  dual zone 58 qt. portable  came in  handy  when  a  good sale on meat came up and my  fridge freezer was already  full..  The  compressor type  portables draw less power than the  thermoelectric ones and will  cool  down  to  about  -4F.

Probably an older thermoelectric type cooler. I had them before, they suck. They don't have a temperature setting on them.

The thermoelectric ones will only cool to about 40 degrees below ambient ..  If  using one  on an  80F degree day   you can expect 40F in the cooler at best. .  I still  have  an  old ( about 40  years  old) Koolatron  kicking around somewhere here.  I  got my 58 qt.  compressor type through  Vevor, Canada..  They  had the best prices  when  I went  looking for one  5 years ago.    Yes,  they're a Chinese company . Check them  out  along with your favourite US  brand names  (which   are most likely made by the same companies that make the Vevor branded ones)

There are a lot of them out there. My camping one is an Austrvanik It is the most power efficient. I could run the whole weekend camp trip on battery only. My dual zone one is  a Vaycold.  but I ended up with 2 of them. First one had an issue when the freezer section called for cold, the fridge section would drop below setpoint and keep going while the freezer was calling. Idiot delivery driver dropped it while delivering it. Called them about it and they sent me another one free. 

First one works, as long as I shut off the freezer section. One night I was bored and decided to take it apart. Sure enough a few wires were loose and afterwards, works like a charm. 

The small one is an Alcipool (spelling?)

I like plowing, but my asphalt drive is too wavy. I wanted to try putting a rubber edge on, but never got around to it.

I made metal skid plates formy snow  plow . It holds the plow about 3/8 of an inch off surface.

That should work very well to keep from digging in !

Try a length of 11/2 " Sched. 40 PVC . Cut a Full Length slit in it just wide enough to slide the PVC onto the Plow Blade !

I made two sets one set 3/8 gap and another set  with 2 inch lift for plowing wooded trail .   If I mount them behind the plow I will need to weld a reinforcing strap on the trailing edge.  I am very proficient with my 4 inch grinder making my welds look good..

Mike the explorer gave some pointers.   The pvc pipe idea  looks doable...

48 inch plow with mounting  is heavy...110 lbs

Try adding a Full Length piece of Sched.40 PVC pipe by cutting a slit full length just wide enough to slide the pipe onto the edge of the Plow Blade

Ha Ha, did a third round but getting dark. PA went to a state of emergency so it is now legal to take ATV's and snowmobiles on the roads so I dropped the plow and went for a little joyride around town. 

Don't have work tomorrow either, bummer
