Found some interesting news online when I googled Yamaha yesterday. Not sure when this went down, but Yamaha bought a percentage of Linhai (a Chinese manufacturing company) and are providing technology for Scooters, and more importantly for this forum, ATV's.

Seeing as how not everyone can AFFORD the crazy prices that have skyrocketed over the past 15 years. Yamaha and Linhai are trying to produce a more affordable model by manufacturing out of CHINA! I found a pretty substantial savings at RidersWholesale.com over what they want you to pay at the local Yamaha Dealer.

Just spreading the word. Let me know what you think about this. You can check out the Technical Specs Here

I googled "Yamaha" and did not find one thing on Linhai, I also cannot find one press release on Yamaha producing these things. All I see is some threads from other forums. I'd like to see some more proof, maybe an official press release of some sort. Looks like your basic Chinese off brand ATV...

I'm not sure I would take a chance of getting laughed at on the trails...LOL...

I think that was Yamoto, they sued.

"Yamaha Motor Company, U.S.A., Cypress, Calif., has obtained a consent judgment in its lawsuit against Yamoto Motor Corporation, Union City, Calif. Yamoto has agreed to stop the import and sale of Yamoto products into the United States that Yamaha claimed were copycats of its products. " Judgment for Yamaha modifies Yamoto line-up.(ATV Digest) | Article from Powersports Business | HighBeam Research

Thank you , Admin!!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome to the site, this looks familiar!

Just looking for some input. There are other sites that have these atvs as well, but this one just had video and better pics than the others. They are here as well ATVs,and CUVs that are good quality vehicles and available at bargain prices. We carry Yamaha linhai and Hensim products.I just can't afford to pay the premium price for the name. Have you heard of this brand before?

So....Are you selling these?? or wanting to buy them???

If you want an opinion,,,,Ill give ya mine....

If you want quality....Buy a Brand Name Product...Brand Name ATV's have been around longer than you have been Alive and Service is available at any Shop.....The Knock offs are like putting money in a Slot machine....Pull the handle and waste your money.....

At least that is what I have seen over the yrs....

Unless you are buying a little 50cc or 90cc that wont be abused by an adult....these I have found hold up very well and you can pretty much get your money back out of it when they outgrow it....The Larger CC's that Teens and Adults ride will Break....Ive seen Several that Friends have had just Break within Months....With no Recourse.....

You get what you pay for.....

LOL, thanks for the nice responses. My brother told me to get some opinions before I bought one. He told me that there were very knowledgeable people on discussion forums that would probably know something about that particular model. I have joined at least 4 different forums, and didn't want to type it again. The power of cut and paste.

I guess I was hoping to find someone who already had one to see if they broke down all the time, or if it was really a good value for the money.

Looks like so far no one on this forum owns one, so I am not sure if I want to be the guinea pig.

I would truly look for something used from a major company. The problem with the Chinese models, is that there is no quality control coming out of China. It is rarely the motor that gives way. Welds break, brackets fall off, bolts are missing. These are all common mishaps with the Chinese brands. There is RARELY any support from the company in case of something happening and replacement parts are scarce. How much are these going for new?

I was wanting to buy one . . . but so far everyone has made me more than a little skeptical. I really can't afford the big name brands at the moment, but I could probably wait and get a good deal on a used honda 4x4 around here this winter. Thanks again for all the input.

The last thing I would ever want to do is to scare someone away from buying the ride they want. I will never bash anyone for what they ride or what they can afford. I just don't want you to take that chunk of change, and get something that will break in 2 months. Then you spent your 1500 or 2000, whatever the case may be on a big paperweight because you can't get a new part. Look around at local shops for used rides. Craigslist.com in your area. There are lot's of different places to look. The fact that no one has heard of the company is what is kind of weird.

What kind of budget are you on? We can get you on a good ride that will last you a good 10 years or more.

The 300 4x4 is $4,495 to your door on the site that I will not mention again so that people will know I am not trying to sell for them. Someone else may have them cheaper. I guess I know how I ride and how most people like to ride them hard, and if I buy used then I am taking the same chance as I am buying a new one of these. Maybe I should wait and save up some more money.

For 4500 bucks you can find something at a dealership that is used. You will have the dealer backing you on your purchase, if something does break, the parts are available. Before a dealer sells a machine they go over it bumper to bumper. You will know what you are getting.

BuckBilly,

Honestly, I was actually just looking for information. Do I write like a Spam Bot? I was a little excited in my first post, cause I thought I might have found a good deal that you guys might have had some better insight on. No hard feeling about the fly on crap comment.

Not sure how it is in Indiana, but in Tennessee, The Husbands drive the 07's and the Wifes drive the 02's. LOL just poking a little fun at cha. I can't afford either one of those rides.

What do you recommend? I am an intermediate rider, but this will primarily be used for trail riding, and hunting. I am 175 lbs. and 5'11. My last ATV was a '92 TRX300 FourTrax 300 Honda ATV, but it was at least 10 years ago when I sold it. Not going to be extremely aggressive riding, just want to get back out there.

Sorry , just looked like another spammer topic. Suzkui 250 Ozark and Honda 250 Recon go for $3,600 range for brand new. Would own a 500 Foreman if everything was not going down the drain right now. Also the Honda rancer ($5,300 and up) and Yamaha 350 Grizzly ($5,200) would be nice to. might be able to get one on sale.

Howdy ya'll. I am working ona 2000 Yamaha Breeze 125. It was in rought shape when I received it and I am working through issues as they pop up. The quad had been sitting for years. I was able to get her running again, but I need your help with the following issue:
I don't trust the transmission yet and I don't want to make problems any worse. So, I haven't pushed things hard at all. Low rpms, less than 5mph in reverse.

      Nuetral: Runs as expected
Reverse: She seems to be driving fine at slow speeds. Going into reverse at idle is fine, coming out of reverse back into neutral won't work (the shifter is just stuck). As soon as I turn off the quad, I am able to shift around without any issue.
Forward: It slips. It seems to only transfer power to the wheels on a smooth surface and going slightly downhill. When shifting into forward at idle, there is a clacking sounds during the transition. Shifting back to nuetral works just fine.

Other Notable Symptoms: There was old oil in the vbelt and when I was tuning the carb, it starting blowing out of the CVT cooling vent at the front of the quad. Made quite a mess. There is positive crankcase pressure due to piston blowby, that I have not decided whether or not I am going to fix (customer budget dependant).  Since the oil was old, much darker than the new oil that is in the crankcase, I am thinking it seeped past a bad seal while it was sitting for years. The oil that was in it when I first got it had gas in it.

Thoughts: I am thinking maybe there is an issue with the clutch. I worry about the old oil intermingling with the dry centrifugal clutch. I was thinking my next step would be to take the cover off of the clutch and inspect it.

Let me know what you all think. Any advice and ideas is greatly appreciated. This is only the 3rd quad I have worked on and I have a lot to learn.

Hi guys, I have a 2004 big bear 400. Last winter while plowing the driveway, I heard a loud pop from the left side of the engine. It continued to run as I looked for leaky fluid, but then died shortly after backing it up and won’t start now. The oil light comes on when I try to start it, no noise or anything else.
No blown fuses that I can find.

Hey guys and gals. I've been working on my friends 2007 big bear IRS. Unfortunately after 3 different people got their hands on it and only made things worse every time.  After months of finding just crazy problems everywhere. I'm finally at the point we're its almost 100% !!! But I'm getting a short somewhere between the 4xW switch I believe. I managed to by searching the internet like a  fiend, got my hands on an official Yamaha wire harness for the year and make. But I don't have the numbered component list and to be honest. After hours of going through and making everything so it's  easy to reference. If anyone has a picture of the referenced components. I would be forever in your debt. I've spent hours marking up the blown up diagram so it will be easy, for any possible future repairs. Please and thank you. Here's a picture of what i have so far.  Unsealed it in plastic so oil and crap won't spill or get smudged. This damn things worth it's weight in gold.              Thanks Jeff                2007 Yamaha big bear 400 IRS.       YFM40FBW

I have a 1997 Yamaha Big Bear 350 4x4. It used to start right up. Then all of a sudden it wouldn't crank. I have a schematic for it so I started tracing the problem. I had no power at the starter solenoid. According to the schematic the power comes from the neutral switch and through the starter circuit cut out relay. I cannot locate the cut out relay on this machine.. If I apply power to the relay it will crank with the start button.
The neutral switch is hard to get to with all the brackets on this thing. I did find out from all my research that if I apply the rear brake lever it will start.
Does anybody know if the cut out relay exists and where it might be found?
