Hi,

I have a 2001 big bear 400 4x4 and was wondering what kinds of fluids I need to use. The guy I bought it from said it had all synthetic so I would like to stick with that.

For the engine oil can I just used mobil 1 or similar synthetic?

What about the differentials?

Thanks!

Yours has the Wet brake in the rear. You have to out wet brake gear oil it. If you have put regular DO NOT RIDE IT! You can get it at the Yamaha dealer I think it's called friction modified....just ask them. Also any Kawasaki or Suzuki dealer has it as well. YOU can get 80w-90 gear oil for the front at auto zone.

That's just for the rear, your motor oil can be synthetic, lighter oil for summer, heavier for winter.

Agreed, go to the dealer and just ask them, what you need just to be sure. They will have every thing you need there too. I always use synthetic oils in all my machines.

DD, what type of synthetic oil do you use? Do you get it at the atv dealer, online or auto parts store?

I've always used Valvoline ATV 4 stroke oil (not synthetic though). Valvoline.com - ATV 4-Stroke Motor Oil

I've seen some dealers carry: Full Synthetic ATV oil LINK

      Hey everyone,
I’m having an issue with my 2021 Polaris Sportsman 570 – the engine keeps stalling after running for about 10–15 minutes. I’ve checked the air filter, spark plug, and fuel lines, but can’t seem to find the root of the problem. It starts up just fine, but then loses power suddenly.
Has anyone experienced a similar issue with this model/year? Would appreciate any advice or troubleshooting tips you’ve tried that worked. Thanks in advance for your help!

I have Grizzly 700 that has been pretty much totaled out in a bad accident, but it will still run and drive good...
Will this engine swap into any of the Yamaha UTV's like thr rhino and Viking 700's?
Was just going to sell it as is for a engine for someone who needs one pretty cheap..but been thinking about getting a UTV for the family and maybe find one with a blown engine cheap and swap it out
I already an excellent shape 2001 Big Bear 400 4x4 for us..but kinda been looking for a good used UTV for us and the grandkids on our property to play with
Not sure of the year..i can't remember what year it was when i picked it up for a buddy a few years ago..he went to jail after he totaled this thing and told me to pick up a few things at his house he was renting and just keep them for myself since he owed me a bunch of money before the landlord sent them to the dump...
The first picture is when i went and picked it up for him..second is how it is now..frame is all twisted up and plastics are fubarred..going to sell the rims and tires.they stick out way too wide on my Big Bear

Hello. New guy here. First time 4 wheeler owner. This may have been discussed somewhere but I can’t seem to put in the right words to do a proper search. Hoping someone can help. I have a 2000 Yamaha big bear 400 2WD. There is what appears to be an oil fill hole next to the pull cord. The cap has no dipstick.  What fluid goes in that and how do I drain it?
*the other side has a dipstick for the oil. I don’t want to put something in that could cause an issue. Thanks in advance.
