I have an 09 king quad axi that has what I think is excessive gear noise when you let off

of the throddle. I have ridden an 05,06,07 king quads and none of them have the noise:skeptic:. It gets louder the longer you ride. Does anyone have an 08 or 09 750 with this noise.

I don't know anything about the King quad, but my LTR makes some funny gear noises sometimes. It has done it since it was brand new. I think that the noise is caused by the gears not shifting 100% into position. Mine has not done it in a while now that I think of it, maybe it just needed to be broken in. If it worries you, I would take it to your local dealer and ask them what they think of it.

I got a 700, and never had any noises that I can remember unless I let off at 70 mph, maybe a little whine.

That thing is brand new, I would take it to the dealer. There could be (I'm not sure) an additive that is supposed to go in there.

Just bought a 09 750 King Quad , rode it last week and has less than 200 miles. I have the exact same noise and symptons. My son has 2 05 700 and his does not have the gear backlash that mine has .Could this be part of the Advanced engine braking system? Have you found any resolution yet. I am going to talk to the service dept. about this, but do not epect much.

I had the dealer check it and they said they could not duplicate the noise. Colorado Power Sports in Denver just wants to sell them. I still have the noise and I called Suzuki customer service. They said i should take it to a different dealer, and they started a file on it . So we will see as this progress goes on.

I took it to a different dealer to check out the power steering, the noise after let up on throttle when warmed up, and to check the front wheel alignment. I thought there may be something wrong with the power steering, I happened to drive it slowly on pavement in four wheel drive and noticed that it steered much hardered than my wife's Honda Rancher with power steering. So I drove my son's Kingquad 700 without PS and it was about the same or a little easier, (it has Big Horn Radials). After requesting to compare my King against a showroom King with PS, I was amazed that it was about the same as mine, but I felt better knowing nothing was wrong. Suzuki PS has little effect on PS compared to Polaris, or Honda at slow speeds in FWD, I don't know about other mfg.. It took two weeks to do this as they took PS volage readings and sent them to the Rep. for evaluation, his replywas it was within tolorance. They did not check the front wheel alignment or verify any noise as they could only drive the machine on their lot. So if anyone needs PS I would recommend that they compare several brands to fit their needs. I still like my 750 King Quad as it runs and handles good, but somewhat dissapointed with the noise and PS.

I have heard more than one complaint of noise similar to what you are describing with the Kingquads, so I don't think that problem is very unusual, or is even really a problem at all. As far as the PS issue goes, that is just dissapointing to know that it doesn't help much. Sounds like Suzuki needs to take that design back to the drawing board.

I just bought a 1984 Suzuki LT185 ATV and am looking for the OWNER’S manual. ( not a service manual)
I contacted Suzuki Canada but they have no paper or digital copies in their archives.
Does anyone possibly have a digital copy they’d be willing to share?

Heres my story. Kinda long. I guess I was a late bloomer when it comes to quads. I had never ridden a quad in my life. Rode Dirt Bikes as a kid growing up. Back in Oct of '06 I found a Mustang on craigslist. Took it for a test drive one morning before work. Fast car. 351 Cleveland. I had planned on meeting the guy again after work. For some strange reason thats still to this day beyond me, I stopped in Hillsboro MotoSports on the way home from work. I had 6 Grand on me. There was a left over '05 sitting by the front door. It was on sale for $4999. It was $5499 OTD. I didnt even look at anything else. I knew nothing about quads accept I thought it really looked coool and I had the money in my pocket to buy it. I was sitting on it when the salesman walked up and asked... "Can I help you?" Without hestitation I pulled 60 Ben Franklins outta my front pocket and said "I want this Quad. Load it up in my truck." It was just about dark by the time I drove away from the shop. BTW, I didnt bother to ask my ol lady if I could buy it. LOL. Anyway, I took it by the house and showed her. She was kinda stunned but not mad. We drove over to a friend of mines house and unloaded it. I took it to the field across the street from his house. HOLY CHIT!!!!! I was surprised by the power. I had it for about 2 weeks and took it to Sand Lake. I was there a few hours and rolled it on a banked turn at the top of the bowl right before you get to the one-ways. When it rolled, I flew off and landed on my belly. The quad came bouncing and landed on my back. For a month I couldnt even walk. I was scared of it. I considered trading it for a 250EX. Went back to the shop. The salesman said..."Dude!!! You dont want a 250EX!!! Trust me. Just get used to it" I still wasnt convinced. I put it on craigslist for $4000. Calls were coming in. I had a guy that wanted to come look at it that evening. I decided to take it for one last ride at Browns Camp before I sold it. I was still afraid of it. After about 5 minutes I started feeling comfortable on it again. I decided right then, I loved my Honda 450 and would learn how to ride it instead of selling it. That was late Nov of '06. Work was slow for a Painter in Oregon. My new job everyday? Going to Browns Camp and ridding my Quad. I bought my Girl Friend an '02 Blaster. I rode my 450 for 4-6 hours almost every single day for 3 months. And yes, I know my way around Browns Camp pretty well. LOL. In March I bought her an '06 TRX250EX (Thank God I didnt trade my 450 for one of those) LOL Since then, I have become totally addicted to quads. I love them. Couldnt imagine not owning at least one quad. Luckily I have two. My "07 was $6500 OTD in July of '07. Bought it for my Girlfriend. Traded in her 250 EX. A month later we broke up. So, I wound up with two Honda 450's.

I am trying to diagnose a no spark issue with my 02 Big Bear 400 and I am really hoping it is not a CDI.  I have done the test on the stator and I believe that is faulty.  I ordered a new aftermarket one from a the jungle website and it tested bad right out of the box so I am waiting for a different one to arrive from an ATV parts supplier.  I started looking out of curiosity at CDI units and it seems if it is for a big bear you are SOL.  Kodiaks, no problem.  Big Bear. No such luck.

I recently got my hands on a free 2004 Recon that the owner had zero information on the machine or the history. Long story short, a little troubleshooting and research revealed i needed to replace the timing chain for it to stay running. when i opened the case, it the chain was so horribly stretched, that the tensioner pivot arm had play between it and the chain! I also found the oil pump chain totally disconnected from the sprocket due to being completely worn out. I tore the whole engine down and rebuilt it from the bottom up finding little things here and there that needed to be replaced. Upon inspecting the top end, i didn't find any bad/excessive play in the crank, rod bearings or wrist pin. Now the machine runs great, but even after 2x adjusting the valves, the chatter is way more than you'd expect from a honda normally. My neighbor is an auto mechanic by trade, and i asked him to take a listen. the look on his face when i started it and it was chattering like that was priceless! He mentioned that maybe the valves themselves might be wore out or stretched. my question here: what all can cause the excessive rattle up in the valve cover aside from valves being out of spec? Everything else seemed to be in decent condition as far as rockers and guides go. I am fairly new to small engine/ATV repairs, but am learning as a hobby and have a fair amount of knowledge with how to do some wrenching. Thanks!
