Me and a friend of mine where sitting around talkin the other day about atv's and places to go ride and what not well he goes to tell me he wants to make his atv street legal...well I told him that I wasnt sure if he could or not ( I myself have never seem a street legal atv) he tells me that he sees them all the time ride down the street. anyway it sounds a little interesting if it is possible i might like to try it out myself. so before i go out and buy the kit i wanted to see if i could get some feed back from all of you. just to see if this is possible or if any of you have seen street legal atv's and if so what steps do i need to take to do this?

thank you for your time

Laws differ from state to state, but there are some states where you can license them for the street. I would if I could. I would check with the licencing agency to find out what the laws are in your state.

The Specialty Vehicle Institute of America identifies the following states as providing on-road use: Arizona, Idaho, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, and West Virginia. Those are the states that you can make your atv 100% street legal.

Yea u could make it street legal but whats the purpose of that? If u want to be in the street get in ur car, if u wanna ride and just do other fun stuff, get on ur atv.

I live in ohio, and I would really love to make my DS street legal. I am really having a hard time understanding the logic behind them not being allowed. 2 wheels...ok....3 wheels...ok. 4 wheels...absolutely not? Makes no sense. So I could take my quad..Set it up so that it has one less wheel and then its legit? What is the driving motivation for these states to keep from making quads legal?

What stinks I live in Ga and here people can ride Golf carts on side streets and in a subdivison. I don't get the Golf cart deal and then atvs & utvs are not allowed.

Probably because golf carts are more controlled. It is like that at a couple campgrounds I know of. You can have a golf cart to travel around to visit your friends and drink their beer:cheers2c:, but no ATV.:policeman:

Hi my name is Dex, and i have an addic..oh wrong group.
I only started actually riding atvs in late 2019 with a friend from high school. After getting out and enjoying a night of riding and camping, i just found that i REALLY enjoy being out in the woods on a 4wheeler day or night. my main rig is a 2020 Can Am Outlander 570 and recently picked up a 2004 Honda Recon 250, and a Kawasaki Prairie 360. Both the honda and the Kawasaki are projects that started in pretty rough condition and are slowly becoming running, riding machines. As i research and rebuild, i am learning new skills along the way and enjoying every minute of it. Thanks for having me in the community, i hope to learn a bit more every day from each of you out there, while also sharing some experiences with you all as well!

The family has two quads and have been asking where to ride around here- we are about 70 miles north of spokane and looking for places that are nice to go visit for beginners.
We have a 2003 Polaris sportsman, and a 2004 Artic Cat 2-up (I forget the size)

      I just have a question.
If I was to buy 3 Wheeler from a private party say a 1985 Honda 350 can I get it made street legal and if not can I still ride it out in the Arizona deserts?
