Welcome to QUADCRAZY! When was the last time you changed your plug(s)?

What year is your atv?

I think they were checked like 8 months ago... Im having a hasstle finding a plug spanner that goes into my bike

Can't you use a 3/8 ratchet, spark plug socket, and extension bar...with a swivel?

I'll give that a shot thanks alot... my mechanic that used to fix my bike has left so wasnt too sure what tools worked... Um my bike didnt come with a manual are u able to tell me how to check the fuel flow? wen im ridding i make sure the tap is on all the time... ive changed the filters incl air and i had a new carb kit fitted but cudnt get the plug out to get another one.

Mandy, your first post says if your above 2nd gear and have it "full Throttle" it misses out. Unless it has an after market CDI box it will have a rev limiter to keep it from over reving. If you shift to a higher gear but run half to 3/4 throttle how does it run?

Hey Indykwg,

yea it does that in third and above i have the digital display on mine it gets to abt 3 on the rev counter then i change... i tired the throtle at about 3/4 and its like its starving for power or something then i open it fully and it still kind of jerks and like misses but if i drop all the way to first it somehow feels like it kick starts again and it rides fine.

Definately change the spark plug. Its the cheapest and fastest fix. If that dosen't get it post back. Could be a bare spot on the coil wire shorting out or the wires to the coil shorting as the ride gets bumpier at higher speeds.

Sounds like you are running out of fuel in the bowl, maybe an improperly adjusted float. Could be that the carb needs to be cleaned out as well. The other possibility I see is that the CDI or pickup coil could be malfunctioning. Couldn't hurt to check the valve clearance, compression and timing chain as well. At any rate, definately change the plug first, and look at the color of the insulator on the old plug, the condition of the spark plug can be a good indicator of your problem.

I just bought a 1984 Suzuki LT185 ATV and am looking for the OWNER’S manual. ( not a service manual)
I contacted Suzuki Canada but they have no paper or digital copies in their archives.
Does anyone possibly have a digital copy they’d be willing to share?

I recently purchased a raptor 80 for my grandson for  christmas. I am trying to make sure it is running properly. i have rebuilt the carb and adjusted the carb idle then the mixture to middle of where it runs rough and it runs great for about a min or 2. then it stalls out. I can usually choke it and it will start so i feel it is lacking fuel. the fuel shutoff valve has been changed and i checked it for good fuel flow.  any ideas of what to check next. I am planning to vfy fuel float height tomorrow. I visually checked it by turning carb upside down when i had it apart and it looked level. any ideas are appreciated.

      Thanks.

      I have a 1990 Honda fourtrax 300 2x4
I rode the other day for 30-45 min. Switched it off and now it is completely dead..
battery is fully charged, fuses are good . WILL NOT TURN OVER ,
headlights won't turn on , No neutral, reverse or oil temp lights . Electrically it is completely dead !!! I replaced the key switch and CDI box , STILL NOTHING.
I bypassed the neutral safety switch and grounded it to the battery and still nothing !! I used a jumper wire on the starter Solenoid , the motor will turn over but not start . I even bypassed both fuses and straight wired it to see if I could get a neutral light or headlights still nothing . What could it be ?

I am trying to diagnose a no spark issue with my 02 Big Bear 400 and I am really hoping it is not a CDI.  I have done the test on the stator and I believe that is faulty.  I ordered a new aftermarket one from a the jungle website and it tested bad right out of the box so I am waiting for a different one to arrive from an ATV parts supplier.  I started looking out of curiosity at CDI units and it seems if it is for a big bear you are SOL.  Kodiaks, no problem.  Big Bear. No such luck.
