I was looking through a bunch of pics on here. I noticed that people are doing crazy/stupid stuff with no gear on at all to protect themselves. I'm not a safety Na** by any means but I do know that I have crashed enough times to know the value of the gear I wear. I'm also guilty of doing crazy/stupid things; the difference is that I have something on to protect me when I do.

What are your thoughts?

The only gear I have is a Helmet....and I didnt even have one of those until it was the law...My wife has a Helmet and My kids have a helmet....My youngest wears his Boots and Chest Protector.....Just because he wants to.....

I have always thought it should be a Choice....You think everyone should look like Mad Max????

I have a friend who never used to wear a helmet when he rode a 350 Rancher, his excuse was that his bike wasn't that fast, and one time he had gotten a bee stuck in his helmet. He has seen me eat s**t a few times on my LTR, when he bought his 450R, he started wearing the helmet again. I have been hurt enough times that I will not ride without my safety gear. However, I agree with MWKE, it should be a choice, not a law. At least for grown people anyway.

All it takes is wacking your head off the ground so hard you see black specs and stars for a minute.....then most decide to wear them. One thing to not wear a helmet hearding livestock or raking leaves into a wagon, but riding some of the two stroke sport quads without a helmet equates to when not if. Total advocate for freedom of choice though. Wish everyone a perfectly shiny helmet at the end of your ride, or perfectly wind blown hair hehe.

Dress for the crash, not the ride.

Thats a good one!

I do agree though with the first post I see way too many people not wearing at minimum a helmet, and to me of your an adult its your choice but kids and children should not be allowed to ride w/o helmets and proper gear.

It depends on what kind of riding I am going to be doing. I don't put body armor on unless I find something I am going to need it for, but always have helmet, neck roll, boots, riding pants, and a jersey. I have a beautiful wife and two small children at home and the worst crash I ever had I was just trail riding for fun ended up catching a rock with my back tire and rolling around a turn. Ended up with torn muscles, seperated shoulder and knocked out

I always wear a helmet and boots while riding. Pants are a must on a ride aswell. Wearing shorts I have suffered to many burns fron exhaust pipes. I really like the thought of a chest protector but the comfort is not all that great for an all day trail ride.

Me personally at 30 its my choice and I should not be required to wear safety equipment by law. I think the seat belt laws for adults are foolish. Kids on the otherhand should always wear a HELMET at the bare minimum. My son always has one on when he puts around the yard and when we go on a ride he wears a helmet, boots and a chest protector. Pants and long sleeves awell. He can decide what he wants to wear when he is an adult responsible for his safety

Here is a couple of me....

OLD SCHOOL LMAO!!!! Kinda Weird,,,Me taking pics of my son at Pismo....Then these he took of me back in 82 at Pismo...

And that isnt a Helmet....Its a Mullet:huh::wink::laugh:

I would have paid millions for those pics, and you just gave them to us for free, how nice. That is freakin awesome. Nice mullet.

As far as the previous pics of your son, arms and legs will heal, he is protecting the things that won't, his noggin and eyeballs. Looks good to me. I never had any more than a helmet and goggles when I started riding, and the dirt is much less forgiving than the sand. BTW, how did your son take pics of you in 1982? That was 28 years ago.

I agree that there shouldnt be any laws telling you that you need to wear a helmet, but children its a must. I do believe though, that if you dont wear a helmet, you must have nothing worth saving up there.

I have never looked at my sons Chest Protector but can anyone tell me whether or not there are Regulations for those as well....Or is someone just Molding Plastic and Selling it...??

I think this is some of the reason I love DUNES!!!

No guys, that is not a sportsbra. It would not be as nice of a picture if she had a sports bra on. A sportsbra would cover up the best part. quote from your den mother Pumpkin472 ENJOY GUYS

Wow...I packed a small soft side cooler with an ice pack  at -4 F and inserted my Type K thermocouple sensor inside so I could monitor the temperature without opening.  After 3 hours  the inside temperature was 60  F...OMG!   The ice pack  was solid frozen.   Standard temperature for safe storage is < 40 F.     What I found by asking was that there should be no air space in the cooler.  Packed with Ice preferably ice from connivence store (normally 0 F of less).  Food should take up  short day trip1:1 ratio.
      Good coolers are expensive.

Hi everyone and thanks for reading.
My husband and me are getting ready to host the 2nd Quad Runners event at our nudist campground. The first one (last year) went pretty well with about 20 quads attending and have to say, it was a smaller group, but they made up for their size with the large interest in partying and there was plenty of nudity as the Saturday night went on.
We have decided to host another one this summer, but we are looking for some fun (but safe) riding events. Our grounds are almost all flat and remember we are a nudist campground so many of us are bare as* naked so "slow ride" events would be the best.
Give us your thoughts and ideas and feel free to ask us anything you would like, and we will answer right here in the thread.
Thanks for your help and ride safe.
BTW, let us know what "anything goes" means for this thread section.

      Hi all,

I am wondering if any of you have a Clutch Starter gear from a 1988 era quadrunner 250 sitting around that you could get me a precise measurement of the outer diameter of the race the sprag engages onto, for me? I need to machine a damaged race down and install a hardened sleeve and need that measurement (it's on a different gear than the OEM one, so I can't buy and use a OEM gear).

Hi guys, I was given a 2000 Honda Recon fourtrax 250 (I think that's the full name lol). The previous owner had it sitting for a while before I got it. It sat for another few years in my ownership. I got it up and going on its first test drive today!! I was wondering where everyone buys their parts from?  Coming from the car community, we have sites like RockAuto and many more. Anything like that for quads? Also would like to be pointed in a direction, if possible, for plastics. I am missing a few and would like to have it complete. I appreciate any input!

So here's a topic for anything goes forum and to get a way from the china virus stuff...lol. Has anyone been noticing the small drips of news about ufos and the government confirming? President Obama has an interesting late night segment. How warm and fuzzy do you feel when an ex-gov official confirms objects in the sky they can't explain...
