I've got a 1995 Polaris Magnum 425 4x4. When I rev it up and let off the gas and then rev it up before it gets back to idle it bogs down pretty bad. It does not idle very long at all before it dies. I've changed the spark plug and cleaned the carburetor 3 or 4 times and soaked it, rinsed it and blew out all passages with compressed air and still have same problem when I put everything back together. Also, a few minutes after I crank the 4 wheeler, gas starts coming out of the drain at the bottom of the carburetor with a fast drip. I thought the gas might have been somehow going through/around the drain screw so I bought a new drain screw and it's still dripping. After I kill it, gas still leaks until I shut fuel line off. Was also wondering if any parts off a 2000 Polaris Scrambler 500 would fit on the 95 magnum. Any information or advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum Kyle,,,,your flooding out due to either a bad needle and seat assembly and/or your float is laying too high,,,,,,,,turn your carb upside down and make sure your float mount is flat level with the carb half,,,,,, even alittle down,if thats good you need to change thr needle and seat as*.a small wear ring on the needle is all it takes to stick,,,ebay is cheap,,,,,,,,,,,

Hi all,

Hopefully you actually do have carb problems cuz the earlier fourstroke polaris's were prone to eating camshafts, I'm working on 2 of them right now and they were both doing the same thing. Typically the exaust lobe fails.(wears badly) Again hopefully it is the carb.

good luck

Did Polaris do anything to fix the cam problem? I have this issue also, the exhaust lobe is gone. It does have 8000 miles on the meter, so I guess that is not to bad.

i was told by polaris to run a thinner 40 weight oil so it can get up to the cam easier. i was running 10-w40 but now i run 0w40 full synthetic. if it works or not i do not know. i have 4000 miles on my machine and never touched the engine. all i have done is changed the oil 3 times a year whether it needed it or not.

      1989 Moto 4 YFM350ERW intermittent spark.
Quad has set for about 7 years and was running when parked.  When I replaced the battery and attempted to start it had no spark.

What I have done.  Followed troubleshooting in the manual.
      1.       Coil failed the resistance check so I replaced it.  Still no spark.
      2.       I performed resistance checks on the stator and they all pass.
      3.       Found a bad rear brake stop switch and unplugged it and connected the wires in order to disable.  Now I have intermittent spark.  I believe that the issue is with either the stator or CDI and not sure which.
1989 seems to be a transition year for electrical.  I can get new aftermarket CDI units for 87-88 and 90-94.  I cannot get ones for a 89.  I can get new stators for 87-89 and 90-95.  Looking at the schematics the wiring on my moto is closer to the 90 ones on the ATV side of the CDI and closer to the 87-88 on the stator side of the CDI.  Looking at part supply sources the stator housing is the same part # for all the years and looking at some of the stators on Amazon that have the dimensions on them both of the stators are the same size.
What I am thinking of doing is to replace the stator and CDI with a 90-95 one as these parts are all readily available.   Does anyone know if this has been tried before and if there are any issues with doing this.
As a side note I also have a 1993 Moto 4 YFM350ER that has been sitting longer but it is located about 400 miles from me at this time.  By doing this change in addition to being able to get parts I will also have 2 ATV’s that are the same electrically.

I would appreciate being pointing in the correct direction for a wiring diagram and or schematics of the 88 Honda FourTrax 300 4x4 if anybody has any knowledge of how to test the ignition system stator and CDI I don't know if the voltage regulator probably and also the FCU I put a new ignition in it it is a cheap aftermarket one doesn't have the correct plugs but has the correct wiring scheme I get power  the neutral light comes on and the oil light stays on it turns over but I have no spark

I am new to this site. I have a 1987 Suzuki LT230S Quadsport I think. Is there a difference between quadsport and quadrunner?

1st problem, Does anyone know where I can find a stock carb for my Timberwolf, I have tried two different aftermarket carbs and they both suck. The machine runs great until it gets good and warm, then it keeps stalling unless I feather the throttle. it will even stall while I'm trying to go from 1st to reverse or vise versa. I took it to a buddy of mine who is a bike mechanic for years, and he told me try to find a factory carb. When I look online from dealers it says "NOT AVAILABLE" anyone have any suggestions ?

2nd, The small tab on the rear axle for towing is to short for even pulling my small yard trailer, I can't even turn a little bit and hit hits. I tried making an extension which worked great as far as length, but it bends the tab and then the extension drags the ground. I have an idea of what to do to fix it, but wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem and see how you solved it.

I like to ride in wooded and grassy areas. It takes my mind off the everyday routines and helps me deal with my father's cancer. Also gives me a reason to get involved with forums like this one.
