oil capacity 1995 yamaha big bear

Recommended Posts

The oil capacity should be stamped on the case close to the filler hole, it should be in ml. Not sure, but the front diff may have a number stamped on it too, but I doubt it. The filler hole may be on the side in a horizontal position, if this is the case, just fill it up to the bottom of that filler hole. You could always get that info from a dealer tech or from someone at the parts counter.

all i can find looks like it says 2400cm. i just filled till it was on the dipstick.

That's it, there is probably a small 3 just over and left of the cm, that indicates cubic centimeters. 1 cc = 1 ml. 2400ml is about 2.5 quarts.

Look for torn boots on the CV joints, if there are any tears, you may be able to get away with replacing the boot, cleaning the joint and repacking it with fresh grease. Typically, the first sign of a CV joint going, is the clicking noise when turning. If you don't find any tears in the boots, grab the half-shaft and wiggle it around to check for slop in the joints. If there is any, the joint is bad and must be replaced.

ya oil sounds abbout right. thats about what i put in. as for the noise, i replaced the front ujoint with one with a grease nipple. turns out that evertime the nipple went around, it barely rubbed on the belly plate. i pounded the plate down a bit with a hammer and a punch, and the noise was gone. thanx everyone
