whats up guys i just got a question about a tach that i just bought. I kno the newer ds 650 bajas come stock with a tach but I bought a tach from autozone today that works with a distrubutorless ignition like every bike. The tach has 4 wires. a ground, power, wire for light, and the green wire which is what detects the rpms. i tried putting it EVERYWHERE on the ignition except any of the wires that come out of the cdi box. Anyone know where I should put that green wire? Or does anyone know where the wire for the factory tach on the ds 650 bajas go? please help i dont want the money I just spent on the tach to be a waste. I mounted the tach and everything

If you could, please post the year of your machine so it can be added the the thread title. Did the tach not come with instruction? I would think that the wire would be connected to the negative primary terminal on the coil. Since your CDI system runs the coil straight to a chassis ground, there really is no negative primary on your coil. So the tach is probably not compatable with a CDI ignition. It may run off of the wire that runs from the CDI box to the coil, but I won't guarantee that it will work at all and if it did, the reading would be doubled because of the wasted spark. It may also run off of the signal that is generated by the pulse sensor, but again, I am not completely sure of that, but if it did work, you would still have the double reading. In short, I really don't think it will work. You would be better off getting a factory tach off of one of the Baja models, but I would consult a dealer to make sure it would work on your model.

If you have the cash for it, this may be of some interest to you. Vapor Kits: ATV at Trail Tech Home

my bike is a 2001. I ended up getting the tach to work. but turns out the tach only works for 4,6,8 cylinders so when my bike is at about 5000rpms it only shows about 2500 on the tach. I spliced the green wire into the spark plug wire. So Im going to start looking for a tach that works on single or twin cylinder engines. Thanks for the help

Just picked up an 84 LT185 ATV, I understand there was an accessory add  on that gave it electric start, anyone have any info about that kit?

Hi all.  New to the forum & quads.  Seems like a great place full of info.
I just recently picked up a 2005 Suzuki KingQuad LTA700.  I need a battery.  I've been reading up on conventional vs AGM types.  I have a Royal Distributing and Canadian Tire.  RD has 2 types avail for my year/Model a battery YTX16-BS CRANK $75, and BATTERY YTX20CH-BS YUASA $140.  Neither of these is the type from the manual FTZ16-BS.
from what I can tell... I think the only difference is the capacity with the $75 unit rated at 14 AH/10HR and the $140 unit rated at 18 AH/10HR ... which is the rating in the manual for the FTZ16-BS.  How much does this make a difference for nearly x2 the cost?
And about the models/type numbers.... what is important to know ... they all end in "-BS" but are the other details relevant or just manufacturer naming?

Just picked up a 2006 Dvx400. There is a switch I can't figure out what it is or where it goes. Has 3 wires (light blue, black and Yellow)

I got a 2005 350 Raptor Special Edition and I'm dealing with a no start issue; the weirdest thing is when I'm cranking it fires and slows down showing signs of pre firing, smoke shoots out the carburetor every time it sparks. every electrical part (CDI, Rectifier, Stator, Coil) has been swapped out from previous owner, the top end of the engines all new and I cleaned the carb out, anyone got any ideas or similar problems, also is it possible to have a bad spark timing

I have a 94 Trail Boss 250 2wd that will not go into forward. Reverse works great but forward just clicks but won’t engage. I’ve verified the shift lever is pushing far enough so I believe I have either an engagement “dog” or mating forward gear that are likely bad. I also see a fair amount of metal on the dipstick magnet. But if I ride the machine in reverse the gearbox seems quiet with no other issues by what I hear. That said I’m in process of pulling the gearbox to see what parts I need. The gearbox has 1341124 as the model number as shown in the photo below but I can’t find any gearbox on eBay or the Polaris parts site that matches that number. Is this 94 model a year that used some special gearbox? My tag on the box even looks different than all the tags on gearboxes I see for sale on eBay. I really want to buy new parts for the ones damaged in my gearbox to fix the one I have but just doing research at this point to see what gearbox I have to know which parts I need. Anyone with experience with this I welcome some advice or direction from what you have learned. Just FYI this machine is new to me but cranks, runs and idles perfect. It’s not beat up and will be a gem when I get this tranny fixed. Thanks.
