new guy with questions: 2003 Polaris Predator 500

Recommended Posts

i just got a 2003 predator 500

its got a k/n filter and the polaris pure pipe so im guna assume its jetted to go along with those

i gota couple questions how often do i need to change the oil on this thing

i adjusted the rear chain and cranked those two bolts to tighten the carrier, and rode for a good 5 hours and it was loose by the end of the day, i was thinking of making a wood wedge or something to prevent the axle for rotating back to the loose position (hard to explain sorry)

and lastly that polaris pure exhaust sounds good but is just a little too loud i know some exhausts have like adjustable baffles you can take out or add more can i quite this thing down without having to buy another silencer?

thing goes like a raped ape i love it!!!!

Welcome to QuadCrazy!! Yep I rode 2003 Predator and they are very quick and fun to ride. I would change oil according to hours. I clean my air filter after ever ride. I do think you may be able to buy baffles for the pure exhaust but you might need to repack it also.

Hi guys. I have a problem where the quad will start and run well for about 5 minutes and then it dies. On inspection the airbox has oil in it (quite a lot). The oil is pumping through the cylinder head breather hose. This problem first happened suddenly. I have since done the top end including, piston, gaskets, rings and valves. I have also done the carb (not that I thought that this was the problem). The compression seems normal. The only thing that I can think of, is that I did not grind the valves well enough. Anyone experienced this? If so, how did you fix it? Any other thoughts?

I have a 2016 Arctic Cat 500 and recently noticed some oil leaking on the engine block to the right of the oil filter. It's near two metal lines going in and out of the engine block. I think one of the lines is called an engine oil line. I have a photo I'm going to try and attach. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to start tearing into the engine if I don't have to. I think maybe a gasket or something blew around one of these lines. The ATV runs fine otherwise. Doesn't overheat or anything.

Hello, what is the best method for installing bearings into their race? I've set one in place and tapped it down until it was metal on metal. Is that sufficient? Surely it's not supposed to go into the race until flush? Also. does the coil spring on the seal go into carrier bearing housing not facing out? Thanks! 🙂 Seal goes in until flush correct?
