My money is on a sheared woodruff key, you will have spark, just not at the right time. I guess it is just as likely that you need to adjust your vavles, or there is some kind of malfunction with the decompression mechanism on the exhuasut cam, either way, if I am right you owe me $1,000,000.00. You can send that to my paypal account.

In my experience usually backfires are caused by a lean condition or timing, like dirt demon said, woodruff key, stator, electrical issue, fuel delivery issue. are you sure it has enough fuel ? like is the sparkplug wet ? also, i would check your timing chain, your piston may be going up and down but your cams not opening the valves or they skipped a tooth. could also be water in the gas, alot of water, but hey, it could happen...

Hello Im a new member and I have an 07 King 700 that just cut off while i was ridin across the yard...It turns over and the new plug is firing, the injector pulses, i had the valves reshimmed by a friend, it doesn't seemed to have jumped time and i borrowed my friends 700 to swap the computer and none of these things helped...it will backfire once in a while when you are trying to start it...im lost...what kind of woodruff key were you referring to in the older post? Any help would be great...my next move is gonna be to pull the stator cover and take a closer look at the timing chain.

Oil is getting in the air box from crankcase vent tube, I put the two hoses that go to the air box together then something started to smoke on the front of the engine. There is a filter? In the line I blew that out.

Have a 1998 AC 300 2x4, Just installed a new carburetor. Engine starts easy but the choke RPMs are very hi and take along time (5-10 mins when cold out). After engine has warmed up choke releases and it idles and runs fine., It does no have an electric choke. The choke lever is never used and it seems like an auto choke? Long story short, how can I lower the choke rpm levels?

Also, carb came with a spare145 jet, not 100% sure what is installed. Could this impact choke RPMs?

My Yamaha Big Bear shifts through all the gears good, goes into reverse smoothly, but when i go to get out of reverse it takes a lot of effort to get it back to first gear, and even then it does not go very smoothly, have to pull up on the pedal really hard, anyone else ever had this problem. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hi folks, im working on a kazuma Falcon 250 with has the ubiquitous 3 lug 8" wheels.  have a set of polaris ranger wheels and tires that i would like to use on this little atv. they are the standard 4 on 4 bolt pattern. Any recommendations for wheel adapters to achieve this? (double whammy as the wheel track will get wider with adapters). cheers!
