1993 Polaris Explorer 300

I am picking the machine mentioned above and it has an exhaust leak at the engine.

The previous owner implied it was just held on with springs, but I was curious as to weather there were bolts also and hoping that I don't have to deal with getting studs, out etc.

Any advice appreciated.

New to the forum and the world of Polaris's too.

Thanks.

That is correct, there will be a flange that bolts to the cylinder, the springs hold the pipe to the flange. There are also springs that hold the rest of the pipe to the header. Are you sure of the year of the machine or that it is actually an Xplorer? To the best of my knowledge, 1995 was the first year of the Xplorer.

This is something I'm extremely curious about. Has anyone ever attempted to buy a quad (or any other vehicle) from an impound lot? I've always wondered if this could be a bargain, or a waste of time. Google searches do turn up some helpful results. Looks like the state of NJ holds auctions online which I'd be a bit hesitant about.

My online searches haven't really turned up any results of anyone buying an ATV this way. I'd be really curious if anyone tried this, or knows someone who has. I've actually found a couple pages with online auctions for my state, but none had ATVs.

I have a 2016 Arctic Cat 500 and recently noticed some oil leaking on the engine block to the right of the oil filter. It's near two metal lines going in and out of the engine block. I think one of the lines is called an engine oil line. I have a photo I'm going to try and attach. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to start tearing into the engine if I don't have to. I think maybe a gasket or something blew around one of these lines. The ATV runs fine otherwise. Doesn't overheat or anything.

I'm assuming, it's alright to test the engine after adjusting valves without the rear axle installed? Can someone please verify this? I'm waiting on axle parts and wanting to get that done while waiting. Thanks! 🙂
